We are having another warm spell 83F/29C and rising for a couple of days this week. Maybe it is Summers last hurrah.
Photo of the hanging flower baskets in town this year.
The roadside sweet corn stands are open, the going price is $6.00 per dozen. It is tasty!
My other baby brother says the road construction that we have been dealing with all summer is supposed to be completed by Labor Day weekend. We will see.
Far Side
Yikes we are supposed to be in for a few hot ones. Like heat index of 110. The humidity last night and temps never went down very much.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good day for having a salad supper.
The field corn however, is loving it!
Have a great day!
We've had a few hot days again, but it has cooled off nicely due to the thunderstorms and rain. Cooler weather ahead next week before a possible warm-up.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could buy corn for that price; a dollar a head is quite common here.
Road construction is a season here too. It's worse in the city - you can't drive more than 10 minutes without running into orange cones.
We had 8 degrees celcius this morning. I hope the first frost holds off for while, my tomatoes are still green due to the late start with new plants after the killing frost we had on June1st.
ReplyDeleteSunshine is returning this week, with temps in the 70's. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteCorn 50 cents an ear, fresh out of the field! Yum. I would probably have to leave the suburbs to find that here. Last week the farmers markets were $1 an ear.
The hot weather is for the State Fair! That's a great price, we pay $5.50 for 1/2 dozen.
ReplyDeleteI love the current temperatures around here: high sixties and low seventies. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove the hanging basket. It’s beautiful. Enjoy that new road!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the hanging baskets in town!
ReplyDeleteSupposed to be 93 today with a heat advisory. Yup! A bit more summer, I guess.
I must look for a roadside stand selling corn. Beautiful hanging basket. Mine looks pretty awful ( forgot to water it).
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous display of petunias. I wonder what their secret is, to get such a wonderful display :)
ReplyDeleteI like the flowers, looks good
ReplyDeleteWe are having some more normal temps lately. I'm finally getting some jobs done.
ReplyDeleteYour town's flower baskets are just beautiful! We are getting the heatwave now too....but expected to end on Tuesday here. It's been a nice cool summer here.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope this is summers last hurrah. It was 111F "feels like temperature today". It's supposed to be the same again tomorrow and then SLOWLY cool to the 70's and 80's by next weekend. I'm so done with this heat.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
I paid 70 cents a cob for corn at the local small-town grocery store the other day (one of the reasons we usually do our shop in the bigger city further away). Normally this time of year it's between 25 and 40 cents a cob. It was pricey, but still a perfect summer treat!
