Yesterday was the Homecoming parade in town. We found a spot to park Tilly on Main Street and waited for the parade.
We waited quite awhile, we talked to my baby brother and his bride...they are sitting on the bench waiting for the parade.
It was a nice day sunny and 80F or 27C.
Homecoming King and Queen.Great Niece Olivia is in the ripped jeans and Great Niece Anna on the far right.
A hayrack full of football players was the last parade unit.
The parade was short and sweet, lots of kids smiling and waving!
Fun times!

What fun - for the participants and the viewers!
ReplyDeleteI can think of few things that give me greater pleasure than small town parades in the fall.
ReplyDeleteI think I missed the Home Coming hoopla here, but probably because I don't know anyone in High School.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, I never went to Home Coming or Prom, not because I wasn't asked, but because I'd gone to a dance in Jr. High and it was an awful experience so I never tried it again.
I bet it was fun seeing the kids enjoy it so much!
That's a nice tradition, and you certainly had a nice day for it.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling a bit better every day.
Small town high school Homecoming celebrations - just so much fun!! I always enjoyed the dress up days at school. Even the teachers joined into the fun. And the parade was fun and was a way for the elementary school kids to really get involved too. And the marching band.
ReplyDeleteThis feels so like a throwback in time! Happy kids.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading about the homecoming parade.
ReplyDeleteThese are the good things of life...watching parades, seeing kids smile, and lots of laughter. I do love small town parades and getting to visit with people that I don't see everyday.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Our small town has a homecoming parade too. All the classes make a float, we put the cheerleaders in the back of pickups and the football players on a flat bed. The homecoming royalty is all in open cars and we line the streets. They are all lead by the high school band (following a police car) and the junior high band brings up the rear.
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter's school in the big city has no parade. They are missing the fun!
Parades are much more fun when you know people participating in them. Was a good day for it. :)
ReplyDeleteOur small town did not have a homecoming parade, but I certainly remember some of what are now classic cars driving around the track on the football field in front of our smallish stadiun, convertable tops down, and Homecoming royalty smiling and waving.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet! And the weather looks perfect.

ReplyDeleteFall was such a fun time in high-school with homecoming, bomb fire's, hay rides, the football game and the smell of fall! Nothing better than that.
I hope Tilley was in the parade. She’d been the queen of hearts!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a parade to get people out watching.
ReplyDeleteLots of fun and it's all local.
ReplyDeleteThe best kind of parade! Kids smiling and laughing. They all look so young. Remember how grown up we felt in high school?
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Homecoming Week was always packed with lots of activities when I was teaching. It’s a fun time for the whole community. I’m glad your community supports the students at the parade.
ReplyDeleteWe used to have homecoming parades and I was actually Homecoming Queen my senior year. Sam went to homecoming this past Friday. Fun times! What cute kids.....they all look so young!
