Friday happenings

The repairman was a bit different.   He began pulling the oven away from the wall before I could get some breakable stuff moved...I keep salt and pepper shakers and a spoon rest on the back of the stove.   Luckily only the spoon rest was broken...he apologized but still...it was a piece of Fiesta ware.  He was like a bull in a china closet. Hopefully the oven has been repaired and will work a couple more years.   I can check that repair off my list!

Far Guy and Gravy went to visit Dave in the afternoon.  They are all classmates and needed to have a good visit!

I went over to my baby brothers, he busted Mom out of the Nursing Home for the afternoon  Mom and Beth were working on a puzzle.  Mom seemed more forgetful than usual.

Laundry,  a clean bathroom and a nap rounded out the day...oh and cleaning up after the repairman.

Far Side

A Buick not sure what year.

Remember riding in the back of station wagons, facing backward? I loved that. And no seatbelts either. I'm surprised any of us survived the cribs we slept in, bikes with no helmets and someone hanging off the back, rubber hoses we drank from and all of the things modern parents have to worry about!
I'm glad your Mom had an afternoon at home but sorry she's so forgetful. Believe me when I say I know how hard that is for everyone.
Glad the oven is fixed but golly, he might have looked before he yanked that stove out.
Blessings,
Betsy

I hope he actually did the repair well being as he didn't prep well at all. Doesn't sound like a person who pays attention to detail.

Glad your mom got out for a while. So did FarGuy.

I hope you can find a replacement for your spoon rest. :)

I would have been very annoyed with the repairman. I hope you're able to repair or replace the spoon rest.

I chuckled at your brother busting your mom out of the nursing home. I'm sure she enjoyed her afternoon out.

When a repairman is that careless it does make a person wonder if they were doing a good job on the actual repair. We used to pick up my dad from the nursing home about once a month. He seemed to enjoy the change of scenery. Hope your mom enjoyed the escape. That old car looks pretty interesting.

What a jerk. The price of the spoon rest come off the bill? It's nice for your mom the get out. Far Guy, too.

Why! That was terrible. Did you complain to company---I would have.

Fingers crossed on the repair. Your stove is a keeper!!!! Can the spoon rest be replaced? I'm so sorry. I had a stove top fire once and family members tried to move the stove with my collectible salt and peppers on top of the shelf. I had to push them away to rescue them. They thought I was crazy. Ha!

If the oven is fixed guess it was worth his clumsiness.

It seems that many tradesmen are lacking in doing stuff carefully. The last guy I had laid his tools on the bed.

It is amazing that some people don't even notice they are acting like a bull in a china shop. I hope your stove is fixed properly, since he broke something irreplaceable. Sigh.

My comment disappeared. Mostly complaining about that repair guy. Hope he did a good job anyway.

I don't think I have ever seen a Buick station wagon that looked like that. It is 1957 colors but wow what an unusually shaped car. Check my blog for my neighbors sale of his show car.

Good to hear Mom got busted out.
KI have a repair story that I will share on a blog post. Not pretty.

What an interesting-looking station wagon. I wouldn't have wanted to parallel park that boat.
Sorry about your spoon rest. Hopefully that repair guy fixed your stove properly even if he was a bit of a Klutz.

Good grief....sorry about that repairman. I know they're out there. Sure hope he managed to fix your stove amidst everything else. Glad your mom got to get out of the home for a bit. Some folks get more confused when they leave their normal surroundings, as dementia gets worse.

That truly is discouraging.

Your repair man sounds like my husband... he's constantly moving stuff without taking the breakables off - and then is shocked when the fall and break!

What a bozo! So sorry he broke your Fiesta spoon rest. I have a bunch of old Fiestaware and I would be pretty mad if it got broken by a bozo!
Glad you got your oven fixed though.
That Buick looks like it could have been the first SUV! Very cool!
