School Starts

Jen and Andy are both teachers.  Their first day back with students was yesterday.

This is Jen's 42nd year of "first day of school" and Andy is just a few years behind her.

Their students are fortunate to have instructors that really like to teach.  Andy begins the year teaching at UND and Jen continues at Northland Community and Technical College.

School is starting...Fall is coming on strong...leaves and acorns are falling out of the trees. Elementary and High School kids in Minnesota do not start school until after Labor Day.

Adam started school yesterday also...he begins taking classes at UND.   Not sure what his course of study is...I heard he was taking Calculus and a computer programing class and some more classes that I have forgotten...they all sounded scary to me.    Hey Mikey will start school next week!

Piper started school last week but it feels like the height of summer here. Feels like temp reached 119 yesterday and today and tomorrow are supposed to be worse. We woke up to a very warm condo this morning. We hope it's just the A/C not keeping up and not a broken one. We'll never get anyone out here in this heat.
Blessings,
Betsy

That is a lot of years of teaching experience. Awesome! I had 38 years, but I didn't begin teaching until I was 30 as I spent those first few years after college working in telecommunications. Many schools here in SD began last Wednesday, which is earlier than usual. The 3 grandkids in Sioux Falls start this week Thursday.

For an old teacher like me, the start of school will never disappear as an exciting time.

Hard to believe it is already time for school to begin again. Supposed to be 90 degrees today. But it is getting a little cooler at night. We need good teachers. You must be very proud of them! :)

That's quite a record. She looks so young.

I'm guessing those 42 years of the first day of school, include her own years in school. She looks far too young to have taught for that many years. :)

School starts the day after Labor Day for my grandson. He does have a drop off next week of his school supplies and a chance to meet his teacher.

I still have fond memories of returning to school in the fall. Mostly about new supplies and seeing my friends that I hadn't spent time with over the summer, but I was still excited. :)

Andy reminds me of a country singer, but my faulty memory can’t produce a name. We need good teachers and ones with experience are gems! Hats off to Andy and Jen. Glad Adam is furthering his education. Sigrid starts tomorrow. She’s anxious ithink.

Fall is coming on fast. Our schools don't open here until the Thursday after Labor Day. We are losing so many experienced teachers in this country. It's a sad situation. A number of my cousins are teachers, and one was retired but came back to work part time. So unappreciated in these modern times, I salute anyone who has taught for going on 42 years.

No schools are in session here yet, at least not that I know of. Colleges that are on semester schedules do start earlier than those on quarters. Jill starts after Labor Day and Irene's doesn't start classes at Western Washington U until the third week in September.
I no longer even think about school starting. :-)

The grands here were discussing teachers that they have had and some that they wished had been more interesting. Nice that Jen and Andy are the kind of teachers that actually enjoy teaching.

Daughter in law went back to school with her 1st graders last week. Her three sons attend a rural school that doesn't start until the 30th. My 2nd grade granddaughter and her 4th grade teacher mom went back today, along with my big city grandkids who started 10th and (twins) 8th grade. Tomorrow my 5th and 2nd graders here in town go back. My two preschoolers don't return until after Labor Day. THEN I will get some time off.

What a great picture of Jen and Andy! My daughter loves teaching too. I think the field of teaching attracts the nicest people. It seemed like over the years my bestest friends were all teachers. The grands started today, I think but then they got let out early because of the heat.

I did like starting off with a new year but the reality would sit in and when is Christmas break? It is great everyone is back to school.
