We have road construction in our area. Yesterday we went to have a look to see what was happening.
No sneaking past the road closed signs anymore.
The bridge across Shell River is being replaced. From the looks of it...might be next year before we get that road back.
Progress is slow. The detour adds another 20 minutes onto any trip going West.

Is it a road that you use often? Just curious.
During the 2018 floods we lost some little bridges that took years to replace. They were on secondary roads though.
Hopefully, it’ll be fixed faster than you imagined.
Val, we use that road a couple of times a month....not a big deal, but it adds time on the road to Fargo or Detroit Lakes...which both have Doctors we use.
Glad you have another way around to get where you need to go.
The old bridge we used to get to town when I was a kid was shut down to vehicular traffic in 2001. The "new" bridge location would add another 10 minutes or so to the drive. It had opened before I left home (in '77) but I rarely used the newer one because of the extra distance.
At least it's only a couple of times a month. It's going to take awhile, I think.
Several road construction closures have made getting to appointments more difficult for us. but summer is when they get done.
That looks like a big project that could take a while. They sure put up enough signs.
Thank you for the update ~ they sure haven't gotten very far and July, July and almost August are gone!
We live off the tail end of Main Street as you are leaving our town. We used to be the edge of town, but then a whole subdivision sprung up behind us.
Our town is doing a multi year project where we keep demolishing Main St, doing some project and repaving right before the blacktop plants close. It is not fun.
They took out all the trees along the street because I guess it will be 18" wider when finished. One year they moved water lines. The next year they moved sewer lines. This year they are removing the old trolley tracks under the middle of the road killing any hope I had of bringing back the trolley that was cancelled in the 1940's. There are huge deep dugout patches and I am afraid my vehicle will jump in when I go by. I have no idea how many years this will take. I am afraid to ask.
Hopefully they will have it completed before the snow flies. Construction season is supposed to be done by then...hopefully. ;)
IT always took forever for them to repair a bridge in Iowa. Good luck!
Gosh, there is SO MUCH construction going on around here. There is absolutely no way they will be done by winter. What a mess it's going to be if there is much snow around here.

Hopefully they will use a lot of precast beams to make it go faster. You won't be going that way for quite a while.
Around here I've been lucky, by the time I go down a road they've been there and they're done. Of course, I don't go out too often or go too far.
