Cemetery Visit

Far Guy and I made a cemetery visit a few weeks ago to change out the flowers from Summer to Fall.

It would have been my Mother's 97th birthday she died when she was 94 years and 121 days old. Mom picked out the gravestone after my Father died.   Having vases on each side of the headstone makes it easy to have flowers there year round....nothing to obstruct mowing or trimming grass.

  3. That is a beautiful stone, and the vases were a good design idea. That looks like a beautifully kept cemetery. We've been talking about choosing a headstone for our plots, and I've been thinking I want a bench.

  4. That is lovely! I love her name, my grandmother was Gertrude Pearl. I think my next granddaughter, due next month, is going to have Madeline as a middle name.

  5. I live so far (over 800 miles) from where my parents lie at rest. No visiting there for me now and I miss that.

  6. That is a beautiful headstone. I would not know how to even begin to pronounce that name.

  7. Your parents certainly lived long lives. Remembering your mom on her birthday is a beautiful tribute. It's a lovely headstone, and I too, like the flower vases.

  8. I like this headstone. Our cemetery won't let us have TALL stones, so all ours are flat. Overtime the vases become a mess. They get broke, etc. I would prefer your type.

  11. Your mom lived a long life. This is a beautiful headstone and like you, I think having vases on the side is not only pretty, but makes taking care of replacing the flowers an easy job. Blessings Connie...

  13. Your mother chose well. I love the flowers. I bet that name was hard for you to spell when you were learning to print your name.

  15. LD...My parents have the brass vases which don't have drain holes in them. I fill the vases with the fake flowers and push plastic pieces to help deflect the collection of rain. My mom picked out the red stone as she liked lots of color. I had a hard time finding the same stone for my brother but they matched the color with a different stone.
