Pink

The Showy Lady Slippers are blooming. They are Minnesota's State flower.

We enjoy seeing them in the wild.  One area where there were many blooms has been mowed down....they should have waited a few weeks to make their ditch lawn like.

  1. Good morning. Great name for this flower as they look so pretty and dainty. I agree...it would have been better to have not mowed and allowed these beauties to be seen...

  3. Oh, that is such a shame that the flowers were mowed down. Especially the state flower.

Our provincial flower is the Western Red Lily. When I was a child, I remember being excited to see them blowing in the ditches by a piece of land my Dad owned. It is illegal to harvest the plant as it is a protected species.

  7. OH! Pink!!! I love both the pink and the yellow. We don't have these here so it is a huge delight to see them.

  8. Looks like there are many pink lady slippers. Many lady slippers are very difficult to find.

  11. Sorry to hear they were mowed down. They are search-for plant in our area. We usually make a once a year trip to see them.

  12. What a beautiful flower. I love wildflowers.
And now I also know that this orchid - Queen Lady's Slippers - is Minnesouta's flower. Thank you very much.
