My Father gets to spend his first birthday in heaven today! I am certain he is thrilled to be with all his loved ones who died before him. He was 96 when he died last December on his Father's birthday. My Father was the remnant.
The headstone is not in place yet...but the spot is marked. Dad's final resting place is between his sister and one of his brothers. ( The spot where the fresh dirt has been placed) Nearby are his parents and his other sister and two brothers in law.
The Maple trees put on quite a show in the Fall. We hope that the grass seed that we planted has taken root in the rainy weather we have had in the last week.
It is a beautiful country cemetery, high on a hill.
My Father had a good long life which I am so thankful for.
Far Side
Those trees are beautiful with their orange & red colors.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely place to spend some time thinking of all those who have gone before.
ReplyDeleteI saw the name Pickerel Lake and it took me a second. I lived on a Pickerel Lake in North Central WI for a year.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place for a cemetery.
He has a lovely resting place. The trees are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLike your dad, my dad lived a long and eventful life. He is missed but I am grateful for the time and memories we shared.
That is a fine resting place. Happy heavenly birthday to your dad.
ReplyDeleteI can't count the number of times when I have walked through family plots as a genealogist and was amazed at the number of family members all buried together. Somehow, I suspect that is no longer the case these days.
ReplyDeleteWe always remember the ones we've lost on their birthdays.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful country cemetery. We have plots purchased near my husband's extended family in a similar country cemetery. The trees are just getting some good color around here, and we had a beautiful fall weekend.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful cemetery and the trees are magnificent. I love that the family is all together there. Ours is all in the same cemetery, but in different sections. Dad Queen, Dennis's sister and his Mom's plot are together. My Mom and Dad are together and Dennis and I have a spot where a lot of our friends from church, his uncles and aunts are. Somehow it's comforting that we're all going to be close by each other. Although, I know that we aren't actually there! What a day of rejoicing it will be when we all meet in Heaven! Sometimes I just can't wait, especially to see my Mom again!
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
Funny, I was just thinking of my dad. He would have been 104 come November...that's the age his mother was when she died.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful little cemetery. My grandparents, parents, and a lot of my family are buried in a small cemetery in Cokato, Minnesota. Not sure about the next generation.
It's a lovely place. The maples are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou father is resting in a very beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteMy but that cemetery is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday in heaven to your Dad.
My favorite stories of your dad were the bingo games pre-covid. I know he is dearly missed by your family. Happy Birthday Dad!
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice resting spot better then the spot my parents are in
ReplyDeleteLong life does not make losing your Dad any easier. I see where you filled in his grave where it had collapsed a bit. I love the edge of Maples.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to visit your father and so much of your departed family and contemplate the memories of a life well lived.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cemetery. I love your pictures. I was just reading the comments up above. I also greatly enjoyed the posts when you talked about taking your dad to Bingo and how much fun it was and whether you won or not.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful cemetery and it looks peaceful, too.
ReplyDeleteFrom all that I ever heard of him, he was a kind, hard working, good man. It is such a nice cemetery. Your leaves are looking so great.
ReplyDeleteThe Earth Celebrated with you and your Dad! Happy Heavenly BIrthday to your Dad
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cemetery. I'm sure he is kicking up his heels to be with those he missed for so long.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful burial place. To have so much of your family in one spot is a blessing, but we know they are in Heaven and having such a wonderful reunion. I look forward to that one day- to see all my loved ones who have gone before me.
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteFall is very colorful there!
