When the power went out the other night we both needed to charge up our phones just in case it was an extended power outage. So we went for a ride. It ended up being about two hours.

There is a bean field catty corner from us. Makes for fine gazing for deer. Our deer that usually comes for a drink out of the bird bath is missing...we noticed a dead deer on the corner one day last week....most likely her. We are not giving up on her yet...we are keeping her bird bath full.
We did not get the bear on our trail camera....so he must have been traveling in the woods. We bring the bird feeders in every night so there is nothing to eat. I asked a few "Lake people" if they have seen him or if they had damage to bird feeders and no they have no problems.
Yesterday I mowed the lawn and we are supposed to get rain!

Love the Lake pictures. Glad that bear only ate some ants. Keep taking the feeders in at nightIf the "chuck wagon" goes away hopefully so will he/she. Supposed to rain here the rest of the week. Stay safe.
Well, bears do like to visit the same places where they have found food don't they? I know my neighbors had a bear visit to their berry patch last summer. They didn't see it, but man I could tell by the canes were splayed out.
Perhaps you should set out a shovel for the bear to dig with...kidding.
Power outages frustrate me. We have a generator but I have to set it up if there is an outage. A number of the neighbors have generators on a system that is automated if the electricity goes out. Expensive but would be nice.
I hope the dead deer was not a mother with fawns. I do hope you get some rain. We could use some, too, but none is expected.
Oh, I hope it's not your deer. I know it's something that happens every day on the roads around the country, but you KNOW that deer.
How exciting to see the bear. I have heard that they do like to snack on ants. It's probably like an appetizer for them. :-)

I hope your deer comes back. We've had a small doe and newborn fawn hanging around. But Sunday we kept seeing the doe alone and coming through fast. Yesterday the fawn came through alone and looked pretty panicked when he ran right into a bunch of turkeys in the yard. Hopefully doe and fawn haven't gotten separated. The whole "bear" sighting thing is scary to me. Yikes!

Having a bear hanging around would be a tad alarming for me.

So as I've said before bears can be very sneaky.
Hopefully it wasn't the deer that visited your bird bath or perhaps another will find its way there. I wouldn't want to see a bear travelling through my yard either.
I've got my fingers crossed for rain. We have about a 30% chance of rain tonight.
Poor deer, I'm sorry to her about it. I hope it didn't have young ones. I think that bear likes your area. Maybe he was using the driftwood to serve himself up some ants! Be careful!
Bears are no fun. We see deer being hit along the road towards the old place. They cross the highway to get to the lake to drink.

So sad about the deer....you get attached to animals that visit regularly. My hummers aren't around and I have no idea what's happened to them. Be careful with that bear in the area. Maybe he smells you cooking dinner.

The in-laws here have had a bear visiting also but we have not. I haven't seen any berries, those bears must be hungry! Interesting about the driftwood!
Those lakes look so peaceful ( but in reality there are probably millions of hungry mosquitoes hanging around).
That’s smart idea with the bird feeders. One night something knocked my seed feeder down. They haven’t been back. The noise must have frightened them. I’ll bring mine on the porch at night if it happens often.

Wonder how the bear felt about all the fireworks! Hope you get your rain this week.
I wonder if electric fence around your yard would keep a bear out? I have a solar powered electric fencer for my horses, I use it year round and it works great. Mind you, we don't have bears visiting, only elk, deer and moose.
