Last Thursday the heating people were here. Last winter when we had the new furnace installed we asked for a furnace that would also do Central Air Conditioning. It was installed except for the electrical work.
Yesterday the Electricians were here...three of them...six hours later the AC is now ready to go...it is way cool in here! We have a fancy thermostat that we will be able to adjust from our phones once the Security System that we ordered is in place.
We had a wall unit Air Conditioner that cooled the whole house...we purchased that about 21 years ago...we don't use it often but it sure was nice on hot days. I have been worrying about it conking out on a day when it is 100 degrees.
Improvements all around. ESPECIALLY the Electrician...one wire in our breaker box was arcing and could have caused a fire...now all the breakers have been checked and wires tightened.
Our microwave decided to bite the dust...it would not shut off. So we ordered one at the local Wally world went to town and picked it up.
It was a busy day. Oh yes Far Guy had a video appointment in the morning too.
Anyways we can cross one "summer project" off of our list.
Far Side
Congrats on your new central AC. Sounds like a dream. Hubby and I would melt without ours.
ReplyDeleteI am happy for you! Looks like it will be a long hot Summer.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day
Life marches on, with cool air and heat in the forecast. Glad to hear you're all set.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence, our microwave would not shut off either & we got a new one. Your new AC sounds cool. Karen
ReplyDeleteWhoot!!! Whoot!!! Your air conditioning sounds wonderful!! We had one of those giant "window" air conditioner built into a wall that had to be over 25 years old. And of course it conked out one 90 degree day. After a sleepless night in the heat, I was on the phone at work ordering window units for pick up after my husband got off work, they were holding them with my credit card. When our 30 year old furnace gave up the ghost one freezing winter day, we were overzealous with a obtaining a replacement and did not get one where air could be added. I still regret that decision.
ReplyDeleteYou will enjoy having central air more often than you thought you'd use it, now that it's there. So much more comfortable on the hot humid days. OK, maybe you only get a couple hot humid days up there...but you might as well be comfortable during them!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing the electrician was there to spot the other problem! Enjoy the new AC. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new AC!
ReplyDeleteIt feels so good to have all those chores marked off the list, doesn't it? And you're all set now as far as electrical and heat and air-conditioning. Good for you!! Big-ticket items all done now!! The heat & a/c on my side of the house are both 20 years old and I'm expecting one or the other to go out any minute! The heat will go out in the middle of a snow storm and the a/c will go out in the middle of an extreme heat wave, I just know it. I've thought about just replacing them before they go out so the hassle is avoided but... well... it's hard to replace such big-ticket items while they're still working. ~Andrea xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sounds like an incredibly busy day. Glad you now have air conditioning. Wish we did. It doesn't get as hot with us as with you as a rule, but I don't do heat, and often wish we had air conditioning more readily available over here. Anyway, hope Far Guy's appointment went well.
ReplyDeleteI've lived with no air, a wall unit and Central Air. The latter is a game changer for those of us that can no longer tolerate heat. I would melt without ours. Enjoy, you are going to love yours!! Nice to have some things off the list and taken care of, especially the wires. Sounds like you found some good electricians. They are hard to find.
ReplyDeleteNice!! :)
ReplyDeleteLots of important things accomplished! Electrical problems scare me.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to get the air fixed and glad the eletricians were good. It's great to get things checked off our list.
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks spiffy. Cool breeze whenever you want it.
ReplyDeleteThankful you got the ac and the electrical all ok. It feels good to check things off the to do list.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a leaking toilet….always something!
I'm sure you are going to love that central air! It's also good you were able to get your breaker box checked. I have always been afraid of electrical fires. Enjoy that cool air!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a busy day but a productive one. I can't imagine living without a/c anymore though I did up until the kids left home. Then I could afford to put in the a/c. :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness the electrician found the arcing wire in the breaker box!
My daughter iss having central air conditioning installled in the new house they are building such air conditioning isn't common place here
ReplyDeleteMust be going around. Our electrician is coming out to replace the ... thingy that provides electricity to the house. I know...it is a box and it is old and randomly shuts off now once a week. The electric company told me to call the electrician and ... it will be fixed!
ReplyDeleteMy microwave works tho... ")
Nice to get the upkeep things fixed up and out of the way.
ReplyDeleteWe were happy to get out heat pump/ AC fixed. We haven't needed it since, but we are ready if the heat wave comes back.
ReplyDeleteOur painting is getting finished outside my window as I type. Yay! finished projects for us too.
Wow! Now that's a big improvement!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you got it installed. I know Minnesota can get so humid. We put in a new system in the old house and then moved away. Our system at the new house works great even though I hate the thermostat. I need to dig out the book and work on all its automatic settings.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will love your A/C. Great that the electrician solved the other problem as well.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting so many good things accomplished! We had an electrician out here today too, installing a generator! Great Minds!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it is sure nice to have that AC for those hot days, alright--but absolutely essential to clear up those faulty wiring problems. Electrical fires are awful. Glad that got spotted and attended to!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome. We'd hoped to put in central air at the new house, but it's not quite in the budget yet. It will have to wait until next year. For now we are making due with window shakers. We are used to that though - that's what we had at the townhouse. Though the new house is twice the size, so it's a lot more space to cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat's nice is there are a lot more windows, so when it's not disgustingly humid, (only hot) I can open the windows and get a nice cross breeze going.
