The trail cam caught the Impatiens eaters... She has red flowers hanging out of her mouth. Most likely teaching the fawn about them.
We are taking in the bird and suet feeder at night. We leave the humming bird feeder out because the Hummers are early risers and the bear has not bothered that feeder.
HOWEVER the bear is still in the area.
This is my other baby brothers trail cam...
Not exactly a cuddy little cub...I suppose we have a resident bear. I have seen where he has moved logs to get at ant hills...I look for him in the day time sleeping up in the trees but haven't spotted him yet...there are lots of woods for him to stay hidden in.
Annie went home yesterday...she never did catch that Chipmunk.
Far Side
It's going to be a tough year for wildlife here, I sure hope we don't get bears in our yard!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, that would make me VERY nervous. Very, very nervous!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, that is NOT a cute cub, is it? Deer sure do love eating our flowers. Caught in the act this time! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhoa! Caught in the act! The deer sure like my flowers too. They have to jump several chain link fences to reach our yard but that's sure not stopping them. The bear does seem pretty comfortable doesn't he? I know you're careful when you're out and about.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Nice you get to see so muchwildlife in your own back yard. Hope you don't have a face-to-faceencounter with the bear though.
ReplyDeleteThat bear is very scary. I've never lived anywhere with bears. The deer have destroyed more than 1 bird feeder here this summer. They've been nibbling on my hostas too.
ReplyDeleteEverything that lives has a growling stomach and needs to eat, eh? I love your bear. I wish I had a resident bear too. :-) I love your deer as well... who knew impatiens were tasty? :-) ~Andrea
ReplyDeleteI think I would be a tad nervous
ReplyDeleteThe wildlife are wonderful to see on video, but I wouldn't want to run into the bear...ever. It's amazing what we don't see around us.
ReplyDeleteThat is one big bear!
ReplyDeleteDeer like my petunias and they cone at night.
ReplyDeleteI can just hear the Mama deer telling the fawn: "And this is where we come for dessert!".
ReplyDeleteThat bear is staying a little too close for comfort!
I would be another one that would be very careful not to meet up with the bear.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about your flowers. Funny though that the deer actually has a red flower hanging out of her mouth. Stay safe.
We have bears here but not in town. Although when I first moved here I saw one but having the dogs they didn't come around. That's a big one too! Be careful.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a nice buffet for your forest friends! If you make a LOT of noise as you are out and about, most likely, the bear will avoid you.
ReplyDeleteWhen we had a garden, we tried everything to keep the deer out. Electric fence worked best. When they eat your pretty flowers they’re not nearly as good looking.
ReplyDeleteI think about all of the wildlife being driven out or destroyed by our western wildfires now.
ReplyDeleteI saw the trail cam photo and thought "that is no small bear".
ReplyDeleteHmm...I'm sorry to see you still have that bear hanging around. I would be on the lookout for him too! I had to laugh at that first picture...when I first glanced at it, it looked like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer! Have you tried spraying your flowers with that deer-away stuff? It keeps them from eating our geraniums here. Poor flowers and they're so pretty too.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't work on our deer...it is like putting dressing on the salad!
DeleteHaving such animals around would be cool in a scary way
ReplyDeleteCool Bear. No bears here in Iowa to speak of.
ReplyDeleteI think you should have a speaker there at the corner of the house to broadcast sounds to scare them away. I wonder if red tastes better.
ReplyDeleteIt is early morning as I read this and my eyes are a bit blurry….I first thought the deer had a red nose!!!
ReplyDeleteYikes on the bear! I am sorry to read in your newest post about FG. Sending many prayers.
The red flower is a nice touch ;-).
ReplyDeleteThe deer come into our yard in the fall but rarely in the summer. The mules are fenced around the area and although they are fine with each other, the deer keep their distance. My youngest mule chases them.
ReplyDeleteI found a bear track on the trail today so I guess the bear is still around. He/she moves off when he hears me. Charlie won't go if he smells the bear.
