There is a great pattern for a number of scrubbies at Yarnspirations. Niece Katie first shared the pattern with me a number of years ago. I have a small workbag with balls of scrubby yarn...Red Heart or Hobby Lobby brand they are all good. There are many different types of yarns to use. I use a 4mm crochet hook just because I like the feel of that size hook and I have several Tulip Crochet hooks that size.
I like scrubbies that are a bit larger so I usually do four rounds instead of three as the pattern suggests.
It is an easy to carry with you project easily worked on in the car or waiting at some appointment.
I do make them to sell in a craft shop but I give many of them away.
Personally I use them all the time much like a dish rag...they dry out quickly and are easily washed with other kitchen towels...or replaced.
Far Side
I like them! Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI have one of your scrubbies that you gifted me when I purchased a Far Guy carving. I really like it. It works great!
ReplyDeleteI love mine and have used them ever since I got them. They are more useful than most clothes!
ReplyDeleteThey are getting quite faded now.
When my grand daughter visits this coming weekend, I think she and I will be shopping for yarn. She has picked up crocheting!
They are adorable...I am so impressed with all of your many talents. What a perfect way to pass time, waiting for doctor's appointment. I spend way too much time scrolling through my phone at time like this. I need to learn to crochet. Happy Tuesday...
ReplyDeleteI really like the happy colors you have chosen. Anything to brighten up washing dishes is appreciated. Thanks for sharing the pictures and pattern. I will send that on to my niece.
ReplyDeleteI have loved your scrubbies ever since you surprised me with one as a gift years ago. Thanks so much for the housewarming present of scrubbies, my friend!! I am saving them for the move. I like your bigger version, too. They last a long, long time! :) :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea! Pretty and useful, can't beat that.
ReplyDeleteAwesome project. One of my daughters and one granddaughter are learning to crochet. These might be a good project for beginners.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt the scrubbies that you make last longer than the Dollar store ones,
ReplyDeleteThose would make good stocking stuffers.
ReplyDeleteMy 90+ year old friend has gifted us with scrubbies several times. I have one in Christmas colors on my kitchen sink.
ReplyDeleteI liked the look of these
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the things you do Connie! You're a gem!
ReplyDeleteThe scrubby that you sent me years ago did last a long time and it was much better than the junk at the store!
ReplyDeleteI am the proud recipient of some of yours from years ago. Since I rarely cook or clean up, and hubby doesn't use them, I still have two, which remind me of you when I see them. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is great that you can sell these. I used to make them for craft shows, and sold zero. I sold more of the bigger ones I made from netting (but way too much work to make). I ended up donating my scrubbie yarns to an area facility that helps people recover from addictions.
ReplyDeleteI love the ones you made for me and use them all the time.
ReplyDeleteYours are very pretty. Great minds think alike as I have been making them too. I'm k nitting some rectangular ones for gifts.
