Gathering

Yesterday we had a gathering for my parents birthdays and their anniversary.   My baby brother and his bride hosted the party at their lake home.  It was a bit rainy so we gathered in the garage and in the porch to eat.

There was a good turnout. Many of my cousins showed up, my Dad has no living siblings, my Mom has two living siblings and Uncle Al showed up.  There were 4 grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren to help celebrate.

There was lots of food.  Hamburgers, brats, pasta salad, coleslaw, potato salad, veggie tray, baked beans, chips, cake and ice cream cake.

Dad knew who his children were...he could not come up with my name but knew I was born first, he called my brothers by name.

What a good celbration with lots of family and all the trimmings for a good spread. The cake looks delicious. So nice to see a picture of your family and you. Glad your dad was having a pretty good day, too. :)

I am so happy for you that all of you were able to be there with your parents. I know that you already know how very, very lucky you are to still have them.

So special. And so is the photo of you, your siblings and your parents. And how wonderful that your family was able to gather and celebrate. I love that your dad knows who you are, your birth order, and recognizes you - but can't think of your name. I swear that happens to me on a weekly basis. I know it's hard, but he does know you and loves you. Wonderful celebration (and that buffet sounds absolutely delicious!!).

How wonderful to get so much of the family together! Your parents look happy and I'm sure they loved having family together. That picture of your parents with you and your brothers is quite special and worth framing.

What a lovely gathering you must have had with so many family members able to be there. Your parents really do look good. I'm sure it is bittersweet when your dad remembers some things and not others. Does he get frustrated with not being able to remember names?

I absolutely love this. How great that you were able to celebrate, sort of outside and spend precious time together. What an absolute blessing to still have both of your parents with you and living close. The fact that your Dad knows who you are, even without name recall is wonderful. I miss my parents and Dennis's Dad so much.
The cake, oh my. :-) I'd like a BIG piece please, and the menu is pure midwestern.
I'm glad it was such a great day and that you have a perfect photo to keep for years to come.
Blessings,
Betsy

That's not bad for 95. He's running laps around the peers who never made it that far. Happy Birthday! And many more to come!
