It was cold yesterday. The high was 47 F or 8 C eh....it was a bit windy and some more leaves fell out of the trees in our yard. Next week when it warms up I will finish the yard work....maybe. It spit rain in the afternoon.
I brought in the last of the tomatoes. Rain gauges and some yard decorations were taken to the garage.
In the afternoon Baxter came to visit.
"Hey Treat Lady, couldya take me home?"
We went for a Ranger Blue ride...Baxter wanted to stop at his friends house....but his friend was no where in sight. Baxter likes Ranger rides. He still has some separation anxiety...but he is getting better....he has a treat ball to knock around and a treat UFO...that dispenses treats. When he is tired of trips from me to the door he settles down amongst the shoes in the shoe tray and gives me the evil eye....he wants to go home. I keep him on lead outside...cause he knows his way home....besides that... it is the skunk time of year.
Found a new to us trail.
I got the daily 6 Christmas ornaments done...total is 30 now. Groceries were ordered for pick up. It is always an adventure to see what is missing.
Far Side
Baxter is such a handsome dog! That's the cutest picture. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the sign. Baxter looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteYour colors are subdued and beautiful, I'm guessing brown season is just around the corner.
I am happy that Baxter is getting used to you, he sure is cute. Love the trail sign.
ReplyDeleteFantastic photo of Baxter!! You still have nice color to enjoy on your ranger rides!
ReplyDeleteLove the trail sign! Glad the Blue Ranger adventures are continuing, this time with a co-pilot.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question, I did sign up for the newspapers.com option with one of my ancestry renewals. Then I discovered our small town's papers never made the cut. The Rutherford B Hayes Library, located about an hour away has a newspaper subscription to what I think is called Newspaper Archive and does have our local papers back to around 1830. The library is about an hour away and I spent quite a few Saturdays with their microfilm machines and computers, buying a membership which was cost effective with a reduced cost for the hundreds of copies I was making. A new friend from my library genealogy class and I would make a day out of it, packing our brown bag lunches.
With the strike of Covid, the library shut down. Through word of mouth and my friend, we found another library in Ohio that offers free on-line service to this archive. Now I can read these papers from the comfort of my own chair! The service is limited to newspapers in our state only and making copies involves purchasing ink and hooking up my old hp printer, but it is pretty awesome! We live in a small town and articles can be very detailed. Of course they can run an obituary as Mrs. John Doe died Thursday at Home, leaving the woman's name, maiden name, children and family a secret, as well as where the heck is home.
When we
So glad you found some info in newspapers! It may fill in some blanks. I wish our County had old newspapers online...maybe someday!
DeleteGreat picture of Baxter (makes me miss ol' Lenny). I have never seen that sign before! I am slowly getting fall stuff done here (now with the frost) I will be more active in getting that done!
ReplyDeleteI love that trail sign!! Baxter looks so sweet. It rained all day here yesterday, and then turned to snow about 5 pm. I dumped 2" of rain out of the gauge before it turned to snow. But by bedtime it had all melted already. We needed that rain so no complaints from me.
ReplyDeleteNot only have I picked all my tomatoes. They were pulled out Sept 26.
ReplyDeleteBaxter is adorable. I’m glad his separation anxiety is getting better. I’m sure it helps that you make visiting comfortable and safe for him, as well as supply treats.
ReplyDeleteI love the trail sign despite the spelling errors. It certainly makes the point in a fun manner.
ReplyDeleteBaxter is gorgeous!
Awwww Baxter sure is a handsome dude! Too bad he can't relax! I hope he gets better with his separation anxiety someday. I need to decide on Christmas cards for this year. I know you're already full on into them. And you can keep that cold weather over there, we're enjoying a long long long warm fall. Rained today though, so the heat wave may be over.
ReplyDeleteI love that sign!!! I miss having a dog.
ReplyDeleteHahaha great sign for the trail they came up with! I love the colors in the background behind the tree. Won't be long and everything will be the same brown. Baxter sure is a handsome fellow.. he has the sweetest face. Dogs and toddlers having treats makes separation easier. ;) Have a blessed day!!
ReplyDeleteBaxter is a gorgeous boy! Little by little his separation anxiety will go away. I'm glad he can come to visit you.
ReplyDeleteBaxter is absolutely beautiful, Connie! Treats always help to make the burdens of life lighter. *lol* ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteBaxter is handsome............
ReplyDeleteGreat sign and I hope it makes people change their habits. How fun having Baxter visit and ride in the Ranger. Lizzie, (Piper's dog), has one of those UFO treat dispensors. Both puppies love it. I should get one for Zoey.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here today. We had to breakdown and turn on the furnace.
Blessings,
Betsy
It's fun hearing about your relationship with Baxter. Oh, that look!
ReplyDeleteWe had cold spitting rain this am. Baxter does sort of know he is being babysat but would rather be in charge of all the situations. He looks different that I expected in how he would look. He is a sturdy looking guy.
ReplyDeleteI guess you're getting everything put away before the snow comes.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign. Made me chuckle. I wonder who wrote that? "May the flees of a thousand camels..."
ReplyDeleteOh, those puppy eyes would make anyone melt. How do you resist? :)
ReplyDeleteLove that sign! I always follow instructions when I can, but I have a much better attitude when something has a bit of humour thrown in.
Baxter sure is a cutie. Glad you all enjoyed your ride!
ReplyDeleteGreat sign! Love that Baxter knows you'll take care of him :-).
ReplyDeleteBaxter is so cute! He has the most beautiful eyes. We have a hospital in Mountain Home that is named after him. Love that sign.
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer colder days like that. Great that Baxter is getting better with his seporation anxiety issues.
