Appointment for Tilly

The new old car Tilly had an appointment about 45 miles from home.   It was her last look at before we drop her off in December for her body work and new paint...she will return mid summer.   Far Guy thinks that is a long time...he would like to have her home for the entire summer.

Tilly was stubborn in the morning...so we went in the afternoon...her battery was dead as a doornail.  Not sure why... Far Guy thinks it is one of two things...we will see.  After her battery got charged up she purred along.

It was an uneventful trip.

There is still some color.  Some trees are really confused and still have green leaves.

The Smoky Hills show that the wildfire smoke is back.

Once back home I mulched leaves again...I am at 5 1/2 out of 10 now.   We still have about 50 % of the leaves in the trees.

In the morning whilst waiting Far Guy wood carved and I worked on a project in the garage.  Just before supper we went for a ride down to the river.

  1. Sounds like a long time for Tilly to be away from home. But I bet she'll look good when she comes home. Fall is progressing around here. Some trees around here are almost bare and others still have a lot of green. Sure is pretty tho.

  2. I agree that seems a long time before his car is returned. Just for curiosity sake, I will ask our neighbor who buys and restores old cars. They have paint and body work done all the time and their cars are not gone for half a year. Hopefully you are paying by the job and not by hour!!!

  4. Oh how I know about stubborn old girls! Hopefully her stubbornness is an easy fix.

  5. I'm with Far Guy, that seems like a long time to have your baby gone. :-) Our leaves are still mostly green, although one maple across the street is starting to change a little.
    Blessings,

  6. I agree with Far Guy. Not seeing Tilly for such a long time will be hard.

  7. Sounds like you had a good drive, once the car started up. Hopefully it isn't anything too serious.

I'm heading out to start the fall clean-up. I certainly have a lot less leaves than you do.

  8. Wonder why it's going to take so long for that body work on the car? My dad owned a body shop in my hometown (decades ago), and I can't imagine him wanting a vehicle being in his shop that long. Even a vintage one. But I'll bet when you get it back it will be gorgeous!

  9. That does seem like a long time for body work and paint. What is Far Guy going to do without Tilly! Maybe having Ranger Blue will help out. You two take care!

  10. Our leaves are still primarily green too although the colored ones that are out there are falling like rain. We don't even think about mulching leaves yet... too early. But we DO need to get out there and clean up the various beds and pull weeds and prune and all that jazz. We're dragging our feet this year, for whatever reason. Because we can? I dunno. I'm with Far Guy... 7 months to do body work & a paint job? Why? I can just hear what my husband would say... "When you're ready to work on the car, I'll drop it off. Let me know. Otherwise it's going to sit here, in my garage." I guess it's better to drop it off now though, rather than in 2 ft of snow, eh? ~Andrea xoxoxo

  12. That is a long time to be without Tilly. I'm sure FG wants to do some summer cruising.

  13. I'm surprised that body work and new paint would take that long.

  14. That does sound like a long time for Tilly to be out of commission. I just let our leaves sit on the ground. Not sure what my lawn guy will do. I usually mowed over them but I don't have a mulching blade. That's great that you have that on your mower. I don't have too many trees but the neighbors leaves always end up in my yard not hers! LOL!

  15. I dunno... I would probably be looking for someone else to paint Tilly- 6 months or more is crazy!
    What colour will she be?

  16. Sounds like Tilly is going to be a busy car in the months ahead. Glad you got her up and purring today so you could take your ride to your appointment. The pic of the road ahead looks nice! Take care!

  17. That's a pretty long time for Tilly to be in for her body work. Wonder why it takes that long? I'm sure they have their reasons, but still...

  18. We still have more of our leaves on the trees, since it hasn't actually gotten all that cold. Glad you are more than halfway done with the mulching.

  19. Our grocery store parking lot is a real mess. I had someone back into me as I too was backing out. They were way out of their area so were backing up way to far. I have to get that fixed even though it is so complicated. The guy that hit me had no real damage. Maybe they will get Tilly done earlier and they just wanted to mot be forced into a time line.
