These days are not quite Fall but not Summer either. The past few days have been warm. Good time to finish up projects.
Those are the Rake Wheels that used to be on the arbor…the arbor was rotting and we were afraid it would come down on someone someday. Jen, Andy and the boys made quick work of getting it down and hauled away.
This is what the arbor used to look like. The roses never liked growing through those wheel spokes anyway. I think I might be able to find some kind of landscape timber for them to grow onto…maybe. That is a next year project.
For now the rake wheels are here against the grain bin. Out of the way for now.
We finished painting the garage entry doors and trim…ran out of paint once…had to run to town and get more mixed up. Good thing Ace Hardware keeps records of our paint colors.
We also finished cleaning, washing and waxing the vehicles. That was a big job. Blankets and winter survival cans are in each vehicle.
I got out the scarecrow.
As you can see the Oak leaves just turn brown and fall off. I mulched/mowed one day this week. It is unreal that the grass is still actively growing. I will mow/mulch every few days now to try to keep ahead of the leaves. Eventually I will have to get out the rake and the leaf blower…but not just yet.
I think Papa here has a few more mows left and a bit of leaf clean up to lol ! It is fall like here with the warn sun and cool breezes in the day chilly nights and mornings this morning it was just 5C Brr had to turn the furnace on to get the damp chill out of the house ! Lovely photos ! Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !
We've had some beautiful Falls days the last couple of days. I too have to mow/mulch right now as leaves are starting to fall. Those are some lovely photos of Chance and your yard. Have a great weekend.
You got a lot of old wheels!! I see Mr Scarecrow likes standing around them too...
:) Hiyas Chance!!!
Yes, I've reached the 'ignore the garden' stage of the year. Knowing I'll be pulling it all up before long leaves little incentive to nurture it any more.
I wonder if the metal wheels got too hot from the Summer sun for the roses.
You are way ahead of me.
Sounds like you are really set for the upcoming winter. I remember that our ash tree was the first to drop all its beautiful yellow leaves. But I have to say I don't miss all that work!
Chance as always, looks so beautiful in the woods.
I need to mow now that the heat is gone and it rained and the sun is out so that's all it takes. Not much color changing here or leaves coming down yet. And I was mistaken....as of this morning the hummers are still here. Good thing I put fresh syrup out for them as they have a long journey one of these days. Glad you got those mulching blades on your mower....great invention!
Love your arbor and roses....I always wanted a rose arbor. One of these days! Enjoy your Friday. I'm off to Wally World. TTYL!
We are super warm here too and smokey. Not sure what we will have for color this year either with the super cold then hot - I think this weekend will be it for photos.
Warm here today too but we've been cleaning up, picking up and rearranging the garage and shed. The calendar does say fall is getting close...;)
It's not quite fall yet, so it should be nice. We deserve some nice weather for putting up with snow and cold last week.
Rainy here, but it's supposed to be a nice weekend, the last one of summer! Scarecrow? Is it needed at this time of the year? :-)
More Fall here then summer. I still have to decorate outside, love your scarecrow. Blessings Francine.
And Chance is handsome as always!
Waiting for fall here...
Have a great weekend!
I am liking these fall warm days :)
We will be mowing grass into November, most likely. Summer is holding on at least through the weekend with temps in the mid eighties for Sunday.
The wheels look very picturesque! Have a wonderful birthday.
Makes up for that forever winter/spring thing!
Yup! the grass is still green but the leaves are brown. Early fall again this year.
Maybe the plants don't like to grow on metal because it gets so hot in the summer? I wouldn't blame them--LOL!
