Four Years

One day back in 2007 I woke up and said..gosh I think I will write a blog.  Perhaps I will voice some of my opinions and tell some stories about how things used to be when I was a little girl.  Perhaps “The Five” will find it interesting and amusing someday to learn something about their Grandmother…then again maybe not..you never know.

I had been reading Buffalo Gal’s Blog for a couple of years..she was and is awesome with all of her stories!   She and I became fast friends.  I value her opinion and her friendship.

Today is post number 1,468.  I have not missed many days in four years. Daughter Jen guest blogged one time when I was hospitalized with pneumonia.  Chance guest blogs from time to time so I do get a break.

One thing I worry about is repeating myself..have I shown an old photo before on Wistful Wednesday?  If I repeat myself I hope my readers will just go with the flow, and chalk it up to getting older.  I thought about compiling an index..I decided it would be too much work.

Last summer when I was working at the museum I began to write in my mind and then spit them out into the computer late at night.  It seems to have worked.  I have discovered my best writing time is when the house is quiet and the phone is not ringing.  Blogging is a hobby.. a fun hobby.  Most of my blogs are written the night before and published in the early morning.

I also write Forgotten Old Photos.  A blog where old photos found in antique shops are sometimes reunited with family.  That blog brings me great personal satisfaction.  I also get to feed the old photo collection monster that dwells inside me.

Blogging would be a perfect job!  This winter I am being paid to continue writing the Hubbard County Historical Museums blog.

My personal photo blog Far Side of Fifty Photos began to suffer last summer..it was hard to keep up..photography is still one of my passions..and Chance is sometimes a willing subject!

How long will I be blogging for..I have no idea..I take it all one day at a time. God willing and the crick don’t rise I will be back tomorrow.

I have “met” some marvelous bloggers over the past four years. Some I have actually met in real life..some are neighbors!  I thank each and every one of my readers, especially those who leave comments!

Now for a pretty picture. I once had a blogging friend who said “No post is complete without a pretty picture.”  Heaven has been her home for two years now.  Yes, even in the blogging world there is death and feelings of great loss when we lose one of our own.  I cannot explain it..it just is.

A lovely post ! I just discovered blogging last year in May and I love it ! Yes even now I can find myself stuck for a post or a photo hoping its not a repeat. Blogging for me is kind of theraputic in a way , I used to keep a written journal of my daily life for 30 years and now I can share some of it with all you wonderful bloggers in blog land and whats even better I can add photos to lol ! Photography is my passion as well. As long as I can keep typing I will keep blogging , making wonderful friends in blog land ! Have a Happy New Year !

I can't quite remember how long I have been following your blog - old timer's disease I guess. But I really enjoy reading it. Thank you for all your wonderful posts and I hope there are many more to follow.

I have been following you for at least half of your blog life, and I feel like you are a neighbor whose trials and joys of life are part of my life, too. I am in love with Chance, he's my dream dog, so I enjoy his guest posts. I think I've been blogging for at least two years, but I'll have to go find out. Congratulations on having such an interesting blog! :-)

What a wonderful post sweetie. I know that you have certainly enriched this gals life. I always enjoy the pictures and great stories...even when Chance posts. He's such an intelligent critter.

CONGRATULATIONS and keep up the good work sister.

God bless and enjoy your day! :o)

Congrats on your four years (my one year seems so puny by comparison).

Don't be the slightest concerned about a repeat photo or tidbit of news - it takes seven repeats to get some material to stick to small children!

So glad I discovered your site this summer, I thoroughly enjoy it and so appreciate your comments back on my blog.

Happy blogging in 2012.

I think you are a very interesting writer. It is good we don't have to vote between you and Chance on who is the best author. He has become quite popular with us.
Many of us started our blogs for personal reasons - - to keep in touch with family - - or even just a personal journal - - but you are right that we have all met some very nice people as a result.
I glanced at your museum's blog - - - very interesting, also - - and I would think it's great publicity for them!

You have been prolific!
I, too, sometimes wonder if I've posted on a topic, or used a picture before - ah, the aging brain - what a marvelous thing, not!
It was fun to read how and when you post and to hear the 'behind the scenes' aspect of your blog. I often wonder about others and how they do it.
Congrats on four years!!

A good look at how and how long we blog. I think I have been here before but not in awhile. I don't always put a photo on my blogs, which started out for a far different purpose than they have served now....but lately time is running too short so I cannot match your record of so frequent. While I started out for friends and family, it has turned that my blog followers are bloggy friends.

GLW&CDR is my shorthand for your phrase, "God willing & crick...." Mine is "Good Lord willing.." I have not heard anyone else use that expression in a long time and I ususally have to translate for folks when I do, so yours made me smile.

Congratulations!! I have looked forward to my daily dose of Far Side each and every day for nearly two years. It is one of my most favorite reading spots. You have talent! Talent for writing and talent for taking the everyday things in life and making them into something enjoyable to read. Your blog is a real treasure and your photography skill is amazing. I hope you will be blogging for a long, long time to come. And..because of you, I have Riley. Thank you:)

Congratulations; you've been at this a good long time. Yours was one of the first blogs I discovered when I joined the blogging community two years ago. I've enjoyed it tremendously and you are a good blogging friend. Let's hope we're both still here for a long while!

I just love it when I find others who love to blog. Your entries are always rich with fun, beauty and wisdom...yes, wisdom. I also admire your tenacity for blogging so often. I go in spurts but I can't get away from it...today I am visiting my favorite bloggers and leaving comments...tonight or maybe tomorrow when I'm done with this I will make an entry...for now I am very satisfied with ending the year by visiting old friends who know they are or not....smiles, Maria

I can't remember when I started following you, but I don't remember you repeating anything and you are always interesting (whether I comment or not) and I have fallen in love with Chance, too. I started my blog in June of 06 for friends and family. Have met so many great bloggers that sometimes it really blows me away! And I'm glad I have met you. I hope you will be blogging for many years to come!! :)

I, for one, thoroughly enjoy your blog. You cover a wide variety of topics and have an excellent way of telling a story.
I know how much work blogging is and so I know the effort it takes. What it gives us in return is what you have listed in your blog. It's a very satisfying hobby.
I hope you keep up your blog.

Connie, congrats, 4 years is forever in this world. I still remember the feeling of "wow, another blogger, and she gets me" I got when one of us found the other. Can't remember who found who, but I do love your blog.

Wishing you many, many more years, decades, and forever of great blog posts, amazing shots, and even more Chance.

It is a beautiful photo. I have seen them in full bloom once otherwise it was at the end of the season that I would see them. Yes, we are hooked on the blogging thing. I guess I would have liked working as a journalists but didn't really develop the skill until I got too old to be hired for anything. My family never calls or writes because they read my blogs everyday. They do know what is going on in my life.
