December 20, 1969: Anniversary

"If you're alone, I'll be your shadow. If you want to cry, I'll be your shoulder. If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me" ~ Author Unknown

Forty years ago I was a young bride..and Far Guy was a young groom..there are more wedding photos here.
Today I will share this one..it is one that I did not share last year.

I will always regret getting married at Christmas time.  We have never celebrated our anniversary.  It is too close to Christmas to go anywhere.  Christmas was always more important..this year we have made a pact to go someplace further than Thief River Falls, Minnesota.. a kind of second Honeymoon! We aren't sure where yet or exactly when..but we are applying for our passports.

Our neighbor Jo came over and took a few photographs.. one for our Christmas letter..but they serve for remembering our Fortieth Anniversary too! We always have some kind of Christmas photo that we can say serves as an anniversary photo. It is the only thing positive that I can say about getting married at Christmas time..you are likely to have a few photos!

Far Guy deserves some kind of reward for putting up with me for forty years..one of his favorite sayings over the years is " Calm down sweetheart! " I am pretty happy that he sat in my desk one day in study hall..and I am pretty happy that he eventually asked me out forty two years ago:)

Happy Anniversary to you both. Christmas birthdays and anniversaries would tend to blur over the celebration of them. I hope you get it worked out and you can travel or take a cruise.

Forty years, that's wonderful! Happy Anniversary to you both, and Connie, you have outdone yourself with your header, but where's Chance? No dog in the picture? That is a first since I've been following you... oh, and Merry Christmas too!

Awwwwww Congrats on 40 years. I do remember your anniversary post last year.

May I suggest Canada? But if you go in the winter, I suppose that the weather won't be any better, than where you are now.

Go somewhere warm, and send us back sandy memories, and surf whispers.

Congratulations on 40 years of marriage! I'm thinking that a Christmas anniversary is a great time for giving really big "combined" presents....like tickets for a nice long vacation somewhere warm in late January!

Congratulations! That's a very long time (as I know) to be married to one person. We will be celebrating our 43rd in August but we ALMOST had a Christmas wedding. I had picked the 26th of December but wiser heads won over.

Happy Anniversary! You are among the very few of our generation that made it. Looking now I can see why, you are right for each other.
I would go some where warm for the second honeymoon just for something different.
Oh yes, Merry Christmas!

We were married on December 21, 1963 and just celebrated 46 years. My husband is so sweet and always make sure that I have a gifty and card for our aniversary. This year I got red roses and a charm for my bracelet. His cards are always the bet - he is known for his cards in our family.
