No Place for Fuzzy Dice

Sara a long time blogging friend asked about the rear view mirror in the 1959 Desoto Firesweep.

The mirror is mounted on the dash.

Not much room for the fuzzy dice.

The heat is on for a few days.  I trimmed the tomatoes today...they are keeping us and a few others in fresh oh so good tomatoes.

What a cool car! I know my hubby loves to see the pictures of your Desoto.
We had some tomatoes pop up in the weeds from where I tossed out old ones last year. We just ate a few off from that plant!

I never knew that is where the rear view mirror on the '59 was mounted. All my dad's cars (Buicks) had it in the middle of the dashboard above the radio. Interesting!!

Before the pandemic, my brother and my sister's husband restored old cars from 1940s, 1950s, etc that were used in movies set in that era. So interesting to see the difference in the interiors. And yeah, some woman named "Florence" was posting her spam on all of my blog posts, so I have had to do "comments approved" myself. Nothin' like a home-grown tomato!

Tell us the tomato trimming trick, if you don't mind.

Interesting! I've not seen or even heard of that before :-D. Thanks!

Glad you showed us. I was trying to imagine how the rear view mirror was attached. :)

That is definitely a weird place for the rear view mirror. I guess it didn't catch on. :-)

Grab a pruning shear and lop off the yellow leaves where ever they come out of the main stems.

Odd place for a mirror! :-) I guess you're right, no fuzzy dice for Far Guy unless you put them around your neck!
Take care and stay cool.
Blessings,
Betsy

That's cool to see! I remember quite a few cars with the mirror on the dash but in the middle of it. I love seeing that wing window. You don't see those anymore unfortunately. I liked them because you could get air without it blowing everything in the car.

Our two tomato plants have exploded! We are eating tomatoes two meals a day and doing door drop deliveries.

We didn't plant sweet corn and don't need to. I went to a church meeting last night and someone put 24 ears in my back seat. Whatever weather we had this summer was perfect sweet corn weather. It's very plentiful, selling very cheap and no matter what farm stand I buy from or are gifted from- it is delicious.

Last night's corn was from a retired couple. He rents out his land now, but does one acre of sweet corn for fun. They give corn to everyone they know and twice a week pick and fill the back of his pickup truck for our food bank.

That's pretty cool. I don't think I've ever seen a rear view mirror mounted that way! Our tomatoes are just now starting to produce ripe fruit. Of course it will get cold pretty quick now. :( You remind me I need to go out and pick what's out there.

Our pumpkins, crook necks and zucchini are a bust this year. I think it's from all of the heat.

You need a really small pair of dice to hang from those! No dice in Dave's car - he had a red scrunchie that matches the colour of the interior - apparently girls would give their boyfriends a scrunchie to hang around the mirror? I'd never heard of it, but whatever.

Strange place for the rear view mirror. Can you see behind you with it there? We are enjoying a nice harvest of tomatoes too. I love this time of the year! Have a great day!

I couldn't picture it either. Weird.
You sure are getting a good crop out of that little tomato patch of yours.

Seems like it's a good year for tomatoes. Our plants are crazy huge but the tomatoes are like an extra large egg. They are not big but there are lots of them.

Wish I lived close enough to borrow a few of your tomatoes!!!!! ha! I haven't had a good garden fresh tomato in a long time. Sorry you can't do fuzzy dice. Oh well. Enjoy that new old car!

Never seen a mirror placed like that before. Definitely no room for fuzzy dice - or our old favourite woolly octopus, either :)

My late wife's dad bought us a Plymouth that had the punch buttons for gears. He wanted us to have a big bulky car so we wouldn't die when we were in an accident.

Looks like a small pair of fuzzy dice would fit? Not the same, I know.

Yes you can see behind the car! :)
