Yesterday afternoon we washed up Tilly and took her to her very first car show 33 miles away. It was an adventure on her longest trip so far. She did great!
There were many cars there but we heard from people walking through that she was the only Desoto there. Many people knew exactly what she was and all about her push button drive. One lady said she learned to drive one that was the family car...a baby blue color and she could get lots of friends in the backseat!
We packed a picnic lunch and took some chairs. The parking spot we got was not great but it was an easy get away when we wanted to leave. Neighbors had their car there so we got on the road before they did...comforting to know someone was behind us ...just incase.
Newer cars, older cars...all kinds of pretty cars.
It was such a fun afternoon/evening. We visited with lots of different people and saw a number of people that we knew. We got home before dark...time enough to water/pick tomatoes!

One of the best times I had was dropping by a car show on the way back from a VA trip. Hubby had the time of his life enjoying it!

Tilly sure is a beauty. So glad you and Far Guy had a fun outing and got a chance to talk to people.
Definitely a fun way to spend the day, and with a lake view! There was a similar old car show on our Main St during the June First Friday celebration. We strolled through and saw some really great old cars, listened to the live band, ate some good food, etc.

I like seeing the old cars. De Sotos were very rare in Canada.
What fun! My favourite part of car shows was always listening to the stories of people who grew up with these cars. We are both in our early 40s, so Dave's babies are well before our time. The earliest car I remember was my Dad's mid-70s Camaro. And I don't know if I really remember it (I was only about 3 when he got rid of it) or if I just remember it because of the pictures we had)

I’ve gone to car shows with my sister and bro-in-law and their ‘52 Chevy and people are so friendly. They love to reminisce and tell stories of adventures long ago. I’m not surprised you had a good time.
Nice that Far Guy could show his car and that she made the trip without mishap.
Car shows around here are always well attended. They're usually held in the park nearby so we can just walk over. For others parking is a problem.

Car shows always look so fun! There's one in the grocery store parking lot in town every Tuesday evening. It's not as nice as the one folks went to though, especially by the lake there which looks so pretty in your pictures. It's always fun to get together with like-minded people. And thank you for my beautiful birthday card, Connie, and the wonderful words inside. It's always such a joy to get something tangible... that I can hold in my hand... from miles away... knowing you held it in your hands too and took the time to make it for me. I picture a table where you are sitting, putting it together, and then writing in it... addressing it... putting a stamp on it... and your mailman picking it up & whisking it away... to me!! I've always loved going to car shows! Many of my friends from high school still build cars, and my neighbor's were all boys and that's how I learned how to take care of my own cars, by watching them and asking lots and lots of questions lol. The next-door neighbor boy who my brother and I grew up with died in December 2019... he built sooo many cars from scratch over the years. And sadly, he died of cancer (I read your newer post about so many people dying of cancer nowadays). His sister and I are still very good friends, we are members of the same church. I think car people are some of the best folks you can have as friends. Be blessed!
What a fun way to share such a great classic car. My neighbor here has a Mustang that he takes off to shows when he feels like it.
A fun time ~ and the attendance has really been great this summer! 400+ and 375+ cars for July and August!
