Crazy Quilt

I revisited an old project.  JoLynn and I went to a Community Education Class a few years ago.  My Wood Quilt Square was never finished.  I finally hid it in a closet...out of sight out of mind.

Here it is the same as when I brought it home.  I decided it was too boring

So I got out a ruler and a pencil and went crazy.

I went a little crazy with color too.

I like it.  Far Guy hung it up on my garage.

Another someday project completed!

  1. I love where Far Guy hung it. Perfect spot and so colorful. You did a good job with the "redesign".

  5. I like the colorful version! Grandma used to make crazy quilts. She just took all sorts of sizes and shapes and colors of materials and fit it together. Love it!

  7. It's wonderful!!! The color really makes it pop! We have a few "Quilt Trails" here in Ohio. A county group will line up barns willing to display, a group will create and you can follow a driving tour. I was so taken by the projects that I started one of my own. I was in charge of the Junior Fair Home Arts Building at the fairgrounds so I started with four 4x4 foot sheets of plywood and my 4-H club painted the first 4 simple quilt blocks to decorate the tops of the side walls inside the barn. The next year we added two more, one a "signature" block with names of past superintendents who left us too soon. I think we had 12 when I left my post and the club did at least two more after I left. No fair this year - that darn Rona. We did decide to do all our blocks in white, 4-H green and FFA blue - for cost, simplicity in painting and as to not overwhelm and outshadow the 4-H projects.

  8. Gorgeous!! The added color was exactly what it needed. That's why it's been in a closet - just waiting for the finishing touches.

  9. Your garage quilt is very nice & colorful. We had that very same "some day" project making a barn quilt. We had the pattern & piece of metal but that is as far as we got.

  13. I adore that... and the colors are perfect!!! If there's any blessings to this COVID thing at all, I believe it's that = finishing various projects & things that would have otherwise remained "in the closet". Love, Andrea xoxo

  24. You were right...it was boring but not anymore! It is stunning on your garage like those barn quilts. I hope you sealed it with something to protect it from the elements. Very cool!!!
