Found a new fruit in the grocery store. I paired it with some blueberries.
It is golden kiwi, specifically California Golden Kiwi. Far Guy thought the flavor was more intense. I thought it was about the same. The fruits seem a bit smaller than regular kiwi.
This is a fruit we had in Hawaii.
These are half peeled. The white part is the part you eat, there is a small brown seed inside the white part which you should not eat. This is a Rambutan and it is very rich in Vitamin C. It has the texture of a grape and kinda tastes like a tangy grape. Needless to say our grocery store does not have them.
Far Side
Those are such funny fruits! They look like hairy white acorns.
ReplyDeleteThe Kiwi looks inviting. Interesting fruits. :)
I have never even heard of that fruit before. How interesting.
ReplyDeleteI never saw anything like those Hawaiian fruits. But I have eaten and enjoyed kiwi. Pricey but tasty. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Rambutan looks very interesting and sounds good...
ReplyDeleteThe Rambutan is intriguing. I've seen the golden kiwi in the store but haven't tried them. In January I tried a fruit in Antiqua that the locals called a sugar apple. It was tasty, but very weird looking.
ReplyDeleteHawaii does have some interesting and unique fruit. Unfortunately, they seldom appear in the produce aisle.
ReplyDeleteI see you have some Golden Wheat dishes. Are these the old ones or something new?
ReplyDeleteI have had them forever...about 40 years:)
DeleteI like kiwi and it's fairly inexpensive. The grands eat them a lot. I have never seen a fruit like the other one...very interesting! Last summer I paid a hefty price for some grapes that taste like cotton candy for the grands and indeed they did! they were delicious. I don't know about these things normally but they inform me when we talk. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love kiwi...although, Terry doesn't like it at all!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I like the taste of kiwis I'm allergic to them. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteThat Rambutan looks delicious. I'm wondering if it tastes at all like Lychee.
ReplyDeleteInteresting fruit. First time I have ever seen it.
ReplyDeleteThe kiwi fruit I have seen before but never seen the second fruit before
ReplyDeletethe last ones look like lechi nuts?
ReplyDeleteYou are featuring hairy fruits today. :-)
ReplyDeleteFor a brief period there were "star fruits" at the local market -- I liked them -- but they vanished as quickly as they appeared.
ReplyDeleteI do like kiwi. The other looks a little too fuzzy for me.
