Rainy and Cold

I heard the s word in our forecast.  Needless to say I am not thrilled. Wednesday and Thursday could be a bunch of fun.  In the next ten days the sun may shine two days…we have November weather in October.

We brought in everything that could freeze…and the hose is no longer connected to the spigot.  I need to check on our winter survival items in the vehicle…I may need more hand warmers and candy bars.

I have resorted to making a daily list of things to do.

I cannot chop leaves they are too wet…it has been cloudy and dismal here for too many days in a row.  If the snow covers the leaves…oh well…we are at 7 mulchings and holding.

We should get a few days of Indian Summer to finish up all outside work…or not.

I have plenty of inside projects to keep me busy and I can walk in the rain…I have an umbrella and I won’t melt.

The Juncos aka “Snowbirds” visited the other day…the Common Flickers seem to be gone…they feasted in our yard a number of days.

Yesterday I saw a whole flock of Canada Geese heading south…I wonder if they honk all the way?

Your weather sounds like ours except no snow. Yesterday and today the temps are in the high 70's and all we get is rain. One night the heat is on and the next day the A/C is on. Crazy weather; I think Mother Nature is giving us a hard time this year. Sure wish I could head south for the winter.

We are still warm today. Weather in the 50s with possible frost possible in the near future.

We have had five inches of rain since last Wednesday - we are caught up to the average for the year with this latest amount. There is some flooding north of town in low spots on roads. This is unusual for this time of year. Temperature in the fifties. End of weather report for central Kansas.

The 'snow' birds showed up here as well. My Grandmother used to say..snow in 30 days after they showed up.
We have warm and lots of rain. I haven't seen the sun since last week. I think we will need pontoons on our mower to do the last mow job of the year...if it ever dries out!

It's been cold, rainy, and spitting snow for three days; the roads are icy and slick. I'd prefer to have Fall weather for a couple of weeks, but it is what it is.

I had forgotten the juncos. I will be watching for them. The seed is out ready for them. I will try for woodpeckers again this year but I don’t have much hope for it. This November weather in October is frustrating. I seem to be physically dragging right now and the grey weather doesn’t help much.

Good question about the geese.
Guess it lets everyone know if they are in formation.
Or maybe they are gossiping. Talking about how good the warm sandy beaches down south will feel. The new kind of food (fish) they will be able to try. Meeting up with old friends they haven't seen in a year. One does wonder.:)

I hope you manage to get everything done before the snow comes.

It's rainy and cold here in SD too, with a chance of snow tomorrow. We just never know this time of year whether it's going to be 30 or 70. I like the theory that the geese are gossiping as they fly along.

We have quite a few of those geese around here most of the year. They sure do a lot of honking when they fly over our house. We have had typical fast changing Missouri weather. It will get cool enough for the heater then suddenly get so hot we need the air. I just like that in-between weather when we can have windows open. We have had a lot of rain the past few days though. It sounds like you are getting a lot done and I know that feels good.

It's supposed to snow here Sunday. We are working now to winterize everything...lots to do.

We have had our fourth snow fall that stays on the ground. Gardening came to a halt 5 weeks ago.

Sorry you are having such dreary weather and that snow is predicted. We are having unusually warm weather... but the geese are still heading south and they seem to be honking louder than usual!

Look at your beautiful Fall colors! We don't have much color change yet and it's still hot but rain is coming with a cold front and it looks to be cooling off after that....finally! It's so pretty where you are and such varied wildlife. We have lots of oaks here so not as much color. I keep track of weather and saw your first bit of snow and I am looking at the next one coming to you. We'll just get rain unless there's a miracle!?! Even here though I am starting to refill the pantry for winter...more soups and canned goods, a good supply of wood and kindling...you know the drill, lol! We have flash floods that sometimes go over the little bridge to town and also ice storms that can leave you powerless for days so even here in the South one must be prepared. Take care and enjoy the storm(s)! Stay safe!

We have pretty darn perfect weather after the rain stopped. Supposed to be sunny and near 60°F for the next few days. But everything on the ground is also wet and soggy, like your leaves. Hope you get some sun to dry it all out for you.

We are looking forward to some dry days in order to get back outside for the fall clean up. most of our leaves are still on the trees. Fall isn't falling yet.

Lots of rain here at daughter’s house where we are isiting. Also hoping for NO snow for our 26 hour drive home this weekend. The drive here proved a bit interesting in the mountain passes. Meanwhile, enjoy your indoor pursuits.
Blessings,
Betsy

Oh... the outside work we have waiting for us. We've not even begun yet! It's always well into November before we're ever done. I'm so sorry about Chance & Aunt Lila. :'( I wish our loved ones could live forever! Lovingly, Andrea xoxo

Well, I hope you get your few days of Indian summer to wrap things up, though I hate to say I doubt it will happen. I just flew home from Kansas City, and the entire trip from there to Salt Lake City was under a thick cloud cover. Looks like some serious weather, if you ask me.

Hope you put some fun stuff in that daily to-do list--a good antidote to getting bummed about the weather.

I love the colors in that leaf photo. So delicate. The old barn looks as if the next heavy snow might take it down. I think it's good you got a picture when you did!
