Chance woulda been 14 today. As it is he has been gone a month now and we still miss him everyday. He loved the extra jerky treats and french fries that he usually got on his birthday…and maybe even a piece of chicken, or spaghetti squash or baked carrots…all his favorite foods.
No birthday photos this year and no picture with the witch hat on Halloween…he hated that hat.
Last summer I had a photo made into a canvas. When I got it I showed it to Chance…he was not impressed. We didn’t know where to hang it so it ended up on the fireplace mantle.

Beautiful photo. I have one of Mr. Morris on the wall. It took me a few months before I could put it there. I can see it at smile at him every day.

I love that photo of Chance. I know you miss him terribly. He will live on in your hearts and memory but I know that is not the same thing. You gave him the best possible life and now he is celebrating in heaven.

I still have a hard time believing he's gone...but then I have always loved pretending life is how I want it whether it is or not. Nitty is hanging in there but the lifter is out of the question because sometimes she's incontinent and I can handle it out in the garage but not in the house.....she pees a river! LOL! But it's an ending...not sharing our evenings, knowing she's not there near the bed....it's a slow painful letting go. For me not her and Annie...the Vetprofin has worked miracles for them. But no more walks together....I go sit outside like we used to...that's the closest to 'the old days' and I brush her and she gets special treats. I wish I could make it better for you and Gene but I can only pray you heal and smile when you remember 'the good times'. Bless you both.
Oh what a wonderful picture of Chance on your mantle. I'm sure this month crawled by for you two, missing your special friend. Have you ever seen that wonderful cartoon-type drawing of Saint Peter at the Golden Gates and this darling dog jumping up and down behind him as the dog spots his owner finally arriving in Heaven? I'm sure Chance is waiting for you in that special place where only the world's finest dogs go!

I was just noticing it's been a month. It doesn't seem like it's been that long...seems like only a few days ago...not sure why. Maybe that's what happens when it's hard to believe someone is gone... Chance was such a treasure.
Awwww...it just hurts that they can't live forever. He sounds like a great guy, and the photo is wonderful, but I know you would rather have him back. :(
Our dogs have my heart. So many dogs in my life from childhood until now my heart is overflowing with love from them. I love remembering them and wish they were all still here, even though I know it isn't possible.
Hugs to you guys. I am sure it still hurts.If ours are an indication you will always shed a tear when you think of him.
