Fall stuff

I rescued the rain guages so they wouldn’t freeze and burst… but it hasn’t stopped raining since.  I have no idea how much it has rained…but it is a lot.

Today it may rain only a little.  I have a list, I have checked it twice.  The last things to do before winter arrives…

We still have two windows to wash the rest have been done.  Since they are upstairs windows that we hardly ever look out they are not high on the window washing list.

We defrosted the deep freeze.  That was an adventure…found some sweet corn we didn’t know we had.  We made a list of what is in there…no vegetable soup was found so later this week I will be making soup.  Our list is actually a map of the freezer…upper and lower left and right…as long as we keep the list current we should know what is in there at all times….maybe.

I am still working on Christmas Cards however I hope to finish them up this week.  My next project is to paint some of the flowers that Far Guy has woodcarved over the summer….after that I have some woodcarved bark houses to paint.

Far Guy is feeling a tad better, he had a Dr visit…he is still short of breath and has a cough…we are doing all the right things for now possibly another antibiotic can be started in a few days. We are in a wait and see mode.

We are ready for Trick or Treaters…the little bags of candy are ready to hand out!  I wonder how many ghosts and goblins we will have this year?

So glad Far Guy is on the mend. I am in window washing mode or should be. It's been gorgeous here but rain is starting tonight and all day Halloween so not sure I will get any Trick or Treaters but I must be prepared regardless. It's crazy temps...low 40's at night and then high 70's during the day....you can actually use the heater and the AC in one day! I like your 'inventory sheet' for the freezer...great idea!

Glad Far Guy is improving, and that you're making such great progress with getting ready for Winter.

Happy to hear Far Guy is on the mend. Window washing has never been high on my list of things to do. Rain keeps falling here also. Yesterday I mulched a ton of leaves in the front yard. doesn't even look like I did anything as the leaves keep falling.

Along with the other commenters, I am happy to hear that FG is at least a tad better. And it seems like you will certainly finish with your Christmas ornaments very soon. I haven't even begun to think about Christmas. :-)

Glad to hear Far Guy is doing better. I am also SOB sometimes. I saw a hint about coughing and possible helps. Listed pineapple juice so I invested $3.59 for a bottle of pure juice (no additives according to the label) and tried it during a fit - it actually slowed almost entirely stopped the whooping. (First time I heard SOB on the ambulance 2-way I thought of something other than short of breath.)

I need to update my freezer content list - everything shifted when the freezer was moved to my apartment. It's passed time to get it reorganized. Sounds like FG is doing well under your care.

Having a list for your freezer is a great idea. Why have I never thought of that before? Sometimes things go in there never to be seen again!
It sounds as though you are ready for winter. Very organized. I’m glad Far Guy seems somewhat better. I hope that continues. Blessings, Betsy

Be sure Far Guy is eating gallons of yogurt to help some of his good colon bacteria survive the onslaught of antibiotics. Antibiotics are miraculous things and I'm grateful for them. They just bring, along with them, a few unique issues that have to be dealt with at the same time. Lovingly, Andrea xoxo

You are so neat and orderly. I keep putting off cleaning out the freezer. No telling what I might find to cook. :) Seems like there is always a window that needs washing on my to do list. Hope Far Guy keeps feeling better.

You are very organized. We didn't get any windows washed this fall, and I'm not too eager to try to wash any in 50 degree or lower days. Seems like it's either raining or cold. Or there is no time on the few nice days we've had recently. So they may have to wait until spring this year.

So glad to hear that Far Guy is starting to feel better. It is rainy and dreary here too. These are the fall days that I don't care for. We are going to our son's to hand out Halloween candy... we don't get many Trick or Treaters and he gets hundreds. Happy Halloween!

Almost done with Christmas cards! I am jealous. ;)

I love your wagon wheel :) I have some ideas for those wheels! I am happy Far Guy is on the mend - We have been finishing up some get ready for winter things also and getting ready for deer hunting... kinda like a holiday here with all of the extra people around!

Keeping the freezer list up-to-date is challenging. No matter how hard I try I'm never right-on when we defrost that thing. Having a "map" of the freezer sounds like a great idea though.

Since we have an upright freezer that gets defrosted every spring, I can tell that's in there. Right now, lots of apple cider and applesauce.
Windows get washed infrequently around here. As soon as they are washed they get rain spattered this time of the year, so we don't bother. I should say Tom doesn't bother. I don't do windows. :-)

We just used the last of our turkey broth from last year, giving me just one small reason to start looking forward to Thanksgiving. We roast a bird far larger than we can handle during the feast, and freeze up enough meat and broth to make soups through the rest of the season. In a perfect world, that would bring us straight up to the next Thanksgiving, but that doesn't always work...

Wish there was a way you could share some of that rain with us. We aren't due for any until nearly Thanksgiving time.

Glad FG is doing better!
