Fox

All the wild creatures  know that our yard is no longer protected by the fierce Border Collie.

Fox

I took this photo out the window…does he look guilty to you?

He has just snared his breakfast.

Fox with breakfast

Oh no… not a chippy she never said.  Chipmunks are cute but destructive…but tasty for a fox.

In 14 years we have never seen a fox hunting in our yard.  All the neighboorhood squirrels are making appearances also.

Yesterday was cold, windy and rainy…many leaves blew out of the trees.  I worked on Christmas Ornaments…the last 22 are taking forever.  I so want that project to be behind me…the beauty of it all is that I went as far as I could for the day and 11 must dry overnight…so I started a new project. As if I didn’t have enough projects already.

You can send that fox over to my house. He would be really fat in no time. I have way too many chipmunks destroying my yard as well as millions of squirrels ruining my lawn. Very windy here also.

Nice pictures of the fox. The pain and adjustments of loosing a pet never seems to go away. I am sorry for your lose although I know from experience that words alone won't comfort you.

Ahhh! I see that you are pretty darned good with a camera! Such clear shots! We had a fox den in our shed for two years and we loved watching them play in the yard in front of the hounds who left them alone.
They were a delight to watch.

Yes, the fox looks guilty, but I wonder why? I laughed at your description of how you felt about the chipmunk. :-)

Will you have any Christmas ornaments for sale that are different than the ones you have now?

That is crappy that they all know the protector isn’t there. I still have multiple projects but I will work on them later. Tree is planted and the yard is to be mowed. I will be wearing a winter outfit to keep warm. Thanks for the cold.

We could also use a fox here! Your story of "learning" Finnish reminds me of the first trip I was going to take - with a sister and brother to Finland. I thought I would learn Finnish so I got a program out of the library. My father spoke Finnish but of course in the 40's no one wanted to be labeled a foreigner so I was never taught - same with my mother and German. After one miserable "lesson" with the language program I gave up. I just don't have a facility for other languages - hence my failing Russian in college!

The fox has a beautiful tail. He/she does look guilty, but obviously is a talented hunter.

I know exactly what you mean about Chipmunks. I feel the same way about squirrels. They are very cute, but so distructive. That Fox has an absolutely gorgeous tail. I wonder how they knew so quickly that it was OK to come to your yard. I’m still praying for your sweet and broken heart my friend. It’s never easy and you’ve had a lot of loss. Be kind to yourself.
Blessings, Betsy

You took two very great photos! Hugs to you Connie, loosing Chance is terribly hard.

They do seem to know quickly whether a dog is there or not. Of course, I said poor little chipmunk...but the fox has to eat, too. What a gorgeous one! I'm sure the fox will catch a few before they figure out there's someone faster than Chance around--LOL! ;)

The deer and wild turkeys come through our yard once or twice every day. And we've always figured they use our yard to come up out of the shallow ravine behind us because we don't have a dog and all of our neighbors do. Our neighbors saw a mountain lion right below our house a few summers ago, but we never saw it personally.

You certainly have some interesting critters at your place.

It is 90 in Arkansas. That fox looks just like the one on the new Anne of Green Gables. I watched it on Netflix but it is not nearly as good as the first edition.

Yikes! I don't want to see any fox in my yard. A number of years ago we had a rabid one that we had to call animal control to come pick up. She had babies too!

We have foxes around here. They are smaller and redder, There was one on my front porch one night...came up, sniffed around and then went down the side walk and around the house. Your sis gorgeous...I like them...sorry about the chipmunk.

We had a fox in our yard a couple years ago. Katie never noticed him. Obviously she is not the protector that Chance was. Odd how everything is in your yard now so soon, you'd think they'd still be wary. I know you miss you boy. Sending hugs.

Oh oh .... hope you get a new fierce pal to protect your yard one of these fine days.

Who, you? Starting another project before the previous one is done? Never!

Bet that cold weather helps put you in a Christmas mood. As for me, I'm desperately clinging to any vestige of summer so I can get back home and have my last taste of fresh tomatoes before the frost hits.

Isn't that something,.... that word got round so quickly that Chance wasn't defending the yard any more. It can't be coincidence.

Those animals just know - that fox is mighty handsome! When we moved from Hay Creek (the dogs had moved a few days before us people) - the last morning there we woke up to a bear in the yard. Happy that fox is taking care of some rodents - we are finding remnants of mice here and there :)

What a lovely shot of that fox! Very handsome.

Great photos of the fox, skulking around. Interesting how quickly the word got out about your now unguarded territory.
