Asters and Ornaments

The Asters are blooming.  Asters are very complicated group of plants. Trying to properly name them is futile.  The are just Asters….Purple Asters and White Asters.

Purple Aster

They are beautiful in the last rays of sunlight.

Some kind of Aster

We know that Fall is here.  The nights are downright cool.  The days are getting shorter rapidly, leaves are falling off the trees  in our yard.  You can mow and mulch them up and a few hours later there are more on the ground.

I mowed again yesterday because we are supposed to get rain.  What would Labor Day weekend be without rain?  You can usually count on it to rain at least one of the three days.  I washed and rinsed all my glass flowers…they are ready to sparkle for a few more weeks.

The Christmas Ornaments are finished!  The special boxes that I ordered were delivered by Lumber Mason ( our great nephew) one afternoon as the UPS Driver is an idiot.  Most of the ornaments are packed away in boxes, I ran out of bubble wrap.  Some ornaments are already on their way to Oregon by special courier. We are glad to be done with carving that project!!   When it gets closer to Christmas I have a few to give away.

I love asters. Congrats on finishing the ornaments. The other Sat. we went to the town square local farmer's market. One man was selling his wood crafts. The city had just cut down a very old, huge tree there by the park and Methodist church and he had acquired the wood for carving. He plans to make Christmas ornaments from some of the wood and that is what I would like to purchase for my 5 college friends as a keepsake/reminder of our college days here. We are noticing leaves falling and cooler a.m. temps.

Fall is sneaking in our back door. I appreciate the cooler weather deeply but am somewhat in denial about the end of summer. This morning I sit here typing in a sweatshirt with bare feet.

I had a clump of purple asters by he garage door when I lived on the farm. They are pretty little things.

Kudos on finishing the ornaments with nearly three months to spare.

Yea, finished!! and sent (Mostly anyway)...

Yep, autumn is here, I thought about taking the fan out of the window, but Hubs tells me that it is suppose to be hot again in a week or so...the weather people cannot seem to get it right around here, so I'll believe that when I see it...

Here we are just now having cool mornings, by mid day it is hot.
Shorter day light set the trees and flowers in a different
pattern. Hope now that your work is caught up you can enjoy Autumn
for me the best time of the year.

Same here with the leaves falling, but most of ours are dead leaves from dry weather. I know you're tickled to be done with the ornaments. That was quite a job! Now that Hermine has gone on up the coast, the sun is shining and it was 61 degrees here this morning. Feels wonderful, plus we finally got about an inch and a half of rain.

Wow on getting those ornaments finished and packed up for shipping. I love the purple asters and took a picture of some just last week on the hike. Fall is here! It's cool and crisp and perfect. :-)

I am really not ready for fall. I bought wood today to get my porch finished. The projects are still there and I have to get them done. Christmas ornaments being done must be a relief. I really am not ready for that furnace to click on. Maybe this fall a farm will finally be sold and we can buy a new furnace. The hundred dollar blower works but it is challenged at times.

Our weather has also changed drastically to cool and damp. Good for you getting those ornaments all done and packed up too.

Fall always reminds me of Johnny Cash singing I Still Miss Someone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xPQ16Asyoo

I love asters! I have not always had the best of luck with them as far as buying them, but I have had some beautiful wild ones in my old garden.

Congrats on the ornaments and we got holy blessed rain for 2 days this weekend and it was DIVINE! Actually got one of the local wildfires to 100% contained and seriously helped many of the other fires being fought. Snow closed Beartooth Pass and I heard it was 32 in Butte this morning. We put the fans away in the house and I am NOT sad about that at all!
