Wistful Wednesday: Out Standing in the Corn Field

We have an old photo of Far Guy’s Grandpa Curtis standing in his corn field.  He was about six feet tall.

Curtis Abbott

It must have been taken about this time of year….probably about 1940 give or take a few years.

Last night we went over to my cousin Todd’s place to get a photograph on that same farm in a corn field.

Far Guy is about 5 feet 9 inches tall so the corn is fairly tall this year.

This is the view across the road from the old farm.

You have some tall corn up by you. Love the view from the old farm.

That's a good picture of Far Guy, and yes your corn is probably a little higher than it was back in 1940, don't you think? Now that picture of FG can live side by side with Grandpa Curtis' picture, huh? :-)

I did the same with the corn. I went out to visit my sister and had to take a picture for the hubby. He loves to see how tall the corn gets out in the mid-west. It is pretty neat to be able to show pictures of the same field in two different time periods.

I like the two pictures - then and now! Fun!!!! Hope the corn produces well for all those looking to harvest!

I have several photos taken in corn fields, as well as in fields of oats and alfalfa.

There's a saying that goes, "Corn as high as an elephant's eye by the 4th of July." Looks as if you have another way of measuring!

Awesome photos with years apart. Glad to see the corn....I miss watching it grow and then the harvest. The kids did bring me some Iowa sweet corn so that was a treat.

Love the comparing of the corn fields. Far Guy is looking good, you are a good nurse.

My younger brother is getting ready to start harvesting in Central Illinois...he said in a week or so. His corn is very tall and evidently has a great crop as well.

It's good that you do comparison photos. It adds meaning to the topic.
