Holding onto the sun

The sun is setting earlier each night.  The countdown has begun toward that 4PM December sunset…uffda.  The sunset last night at 8:07 PM…we had 13 hours and 33 minutes of daylight yesterday.  It was a warm day with a high of 81 F or 27 C  eh!  The humidity was almost as high as the temperature.

Last night I had two willing victims eager participants for photos, my great nephew and great niece.

The kids were out riding their bikes whilst their Mother was jogging.

We were on our nightly ride…saw just two deer and no turkeys.

Sunset August 28

We watched the sun disappear behind the clouds as we drove. We have a smoky haze in the air from the wildfires out west.  At times you can smell the smoke in the air.  I hope the fires out west are put out soon.

  2. The smoke has been hanging around this valley for weeks, and my house smells like a campfire. I, too, hope the fires are extinguished soon.

Clever photos with Anna and Mason.

  6. Nice shots! Wouldn't it be nice if I could get a sheep to do something like that - maybe sniffing the sun :-).

  7. Here in Minneapolis MN we are having a slight haze from the Canadian fires, too. No smell of smoke though.

  8. I like the pictures. With all the trees here I can't see the sun going down but we did have the orange glow over everything last evening. I ran in for the camera and got a few pictures.

  14. That haze is mostly from our wildfires in Washington state. Can you believe how much of our beautiful land has burned down? I love your idea of capturing the sun. :-)

  15. I noticed the moon last night was so beautiful. I may have to take a class some time to figure that all out. Or maybe read directions from off the net. They are great photos and I am sure the kids were thrilled when you had them help with it.
