Bubble Lights

Do you remember the Bubble Lights that were very fashionable back in the 1950's? They fascinated Far Guy, he would sit and watch the bubbles for hours. He says that the bubbles were larger back then. I am not quite sure if I believe this or not, somehow lots of things seemed larger when you were a child.

We have one strand, they are not the old, antique ones but a little bit of nostalgia we were able to purchase at Ben Franklin a number of years ago. Noma, who was the King of bubble lights introduced a string of seven bubble lights, they do come with some cautions. Always use bubble lights in an upright position, allow several minutes for the bubbling action to start, if any fail to bubble a light tap with your finger will start the bubbling action immediately. Contents: Methylene Chloride. If a vial breaks, open windows and do not breathe.

The bubble lights were on the tree for a little while, they are headed back into their box. Far Guy can get them out again just before Christmas. The vials are glass and anything glass can break, as I have discovered in previous years. Chance! He has a big fluffy tail, that he wags with wild abandon. Sometimes he gets into a little trouble with the Christmas tree. So for the safety of all..the Bubble Lights bubbled for just one evening:)

I have enough bubble lights for all three of my trees. Gad! How trashy of me. But I did get tired of flicking the lights as they would stop off and on so the light set in my attic waiting for the day when I want to put them up again. One strand is plenty, believe me.

I am with Far Guy. I would set and watch the bubbles also.

Have a great weekend.

Oh my goodness yes. I remember these from the tree at grandma's house. They were magical and wonderful. She also had these glass birds with feathery tails. Oh my....

And I also remember when grandma and grandpa died, they started divving up the goodies and our family did NOT get any of the bubble lights. Not fair.

I've never heard of bubble lights...but anything that's Christmas and nostalgic just has to be good! I hear you with the tail...Sophie can often leave a trail of destruction from happy wagging in the house! :)

Yes, I remember the bubble lights, my parents don't have them anymore, we still have some vintage balls, left, but no bubble lights.

I LOVE bubble lights!!!! I had them as a child and one day I was in Bronner's in Frankenmuth, Michigan and found them again. I bought them but they didn't last many years but they were so sentimental to me. When I see them again I will buy another set. But the cat would destroy them for sure. Maybe next year when he's a little older?
