Signs

I am hearing talk of Spring.  Horses are shedding, Jack Rabbits are changing colors, trees are budding out, perennials are turning green, birds are showing up earlier than normal.

What kind of signs do you have?

We have no signs of Spring here...unless you count really dirty snow and below zero temperatures that are coming this week.  Green grass is way under the snow.

I still wear my parka, my warm mittens and my head covering are in the pockets.  Seems like the wind is always blowing here....and let me tell you it slices right through you!

Spring seems like a long ways off.  I bet we have at least another two months of snow...maybe three.

Oh yes! At least two more months of winter, for sure. Can't even seem to count on mid May for planting flowers lately because still might get frost. We have a ways to go yet.

I know what you mean about the wind. When I first moved to Fargo from Minneapolis in 1999 it freaked me out that the air never stopped moving up here and it always seemed windy. Now it freaks me out if it stops moving--lol!

I am beginning to see fat buds on the trees and pussy willows are popping out, too. We've got a cold snap coming later this week, though, coldest of the entire season. :-(

The 8 1/2 inches of snow we got last Wednesday is almost gone. In the 40's again today. But by the weekend, below zero. The weather is truly crazy this year. It can't make up it's mind.
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy

After a pretty brown winter, we got eight inches of snow last week but it is already mostly gone and the brown starting to peek out again. No more snow is in our forecast for the next ten days which gets me into the first of March which is spring in my mind, regardless of what physicists or meteorologists tell me.

No signs of spring here, except for the heater going out...and multiple rounds of winter storms coming through...
LOL.
I went looking this morning for any sign.
I found frost and frozen water.

Spring is a long way off for us. Not any noticeable spring bird migration here yet.

Very much the same here. It's finally sunny today (after several days of overcast skies and more snow yesterday), but it is cold and going to remain so for at least the rest of this week.

Our hares are definitely not changing color yet, and though the finches are back, they are often here early. Now if I see a robin in a week or two, I might think we'll have an early spring. Or decide it is an idiot.

The only sign I’ve seen is the lengthening daylight. Spring is a good 3-4 months away at this altitude.

No horses shedding here. We know spring is fleeting in MN. We've had snow in June! You live up on prairie land, I think. You get pelted by wind.

No signs of Spring here. Way too cold and still too full of snow. I wish there was---I really do wish we were looking at a coming Spring. Sigh! So, like you, we hang on and count the days.

It's still above freezing here, but they are calling for an ice storm mid week. As much as I wish spring was here - it's Canada - I've got a good month an a half left of winter.

We've had an exceptionally mild winter here in the Coastal North East (MA). 60 de today and just lovely! Bulbs starting to show their leaves already!

We have had unseasonally warm weather off and on all winter here. I never count on spring until the beginning of April and even then we have had snow. Today the temps got up to 46... that's unheard of here in March much less February. Mother Nature has lost her mind!

We know about your late spring from all of those years of the snow stick contest. Hang in there.

Wednesday and Thursday nights are going to be cold enough to freeze the tips of the Hellebores. I'm debating whether I should try and cover them or not. Hopefully that's the end of the really cold (for us) nights but who knows.

Just when you think you've had enough of winter, it comes back with a vengeance, then one day you wake up and the very feel of the air tells you spring has arrived.

That day and that feeling is so glorious. Too bad it takes so long to arrive.

Have a great week,

The sounds of many birds is so spring-like. I can tell our light in the morning to be so great now.

I do not think I’d like your weather. 🤓

Ugh, we are forecast to get another big dump tomorrow night and all day right through to Thursday. The Great Lakes haven't frozen over either.

We have blooming Bradford Pears and daffodils! It’s so weird to see in February, but I’ll take it!

No signs of spring here! I think you're right about a couple more months of winter. But March always sounds springy to me, even if it really isn't in our part of the world. I have put up all my St. Patty's Day decorations so it is very green at least inside our house!

No signs of spring here ~ the horses are keeping their coats for awhile longer. We are bracing for the winter storm (it snowed today and the wind is howling). I almost bought some cut flowers today ~ I should have!

Miss Peeps is shedding and we have blooms here but we are farther south. Bu it was 70 the other day and then 18 the next morning. We are in the high 50's low 60's pretty regularly during the day now and the rains are coming. TO me, here, Winter isn't long enough! LOL!

Horses shedding, the willows turning colour and the poplar trees have their sticky buds forming. Longer days and earlier morning light! C'mon spring!
