Going around

The flu is going around.  We hope we escape.  We have had our flu shots but who really knows for sure what strain will pop up next.  Our Great Grands both had the flu, Jen helped take care of them and she was very ill yesterday.   She spent most of the day in the Emergency Room with horrible stomach pain, chills and vomiting.

I found myself a decent Doctor for my Primary Care Physician, he ordered a tick panel to see if I have one of the other tick diseases besides Lymes.  In this town there are small clinics all over...you have to be right on top of all the locations or you will find yourself in the wrong clinic.  Yesterday we went to a teaching clinic on the UND campus.

I still have residual Lymes with fatigue and joint pain that flares from time to time.   It is the pits. BUT things could always be worse.

My neighbor who is driving for me for surgery had the flu last week! Her son had it and then she got it right away. She said it was awful and she hurt so bad after being so sick.

I'm glad you are getting checked for other tick born diseases as well. It is no fun having flare ups especially when you have them and then no doctor can seem to pin it down.

I'm staying out of the gym for the next few weeks especially since I am having eye surgery. Getting that flu would be bad.

We all had the flu shot too and back when it was spreading like wildfire here, both our kids had about a 24 hour period of feeling crummy. I don't know if it was the flu or not but neither my wife or I ever got whatever it was. I'm a big believer in flu shots.

I am so thankful you are there near all the good medical clinics. Sounds like your doctor is thorough regarding the tick diseases. There is a holistic doctor here in our city that treats people with lyme's. We have friends who see her and say they have never felt better because their hormones etc are all balanced now. They are 65 years old. With the Alpha Gal, I thought it might be worth a talk to her but I don't believe insurance will cover it.
Regarding the flu - - my guess is you all take probiotics on a regular basis or when needed for stomach issues? Those are good if you have been exposed to something even it they don't help the respiratory part as much. However with your experience you know all the right things to do from vitamins to nutrition. I pray you all can stay healthy.

I had the flu in 2017. I was more sick than I have ever been. Then I got walking pneumonia. I didn't get my shot that year, I have not missed it since. I hope you guys stay well.

I've had some kind of condition for three weeks. I don't know what it is and I haven't had to go to the Doc. It's almost gone now.

I hope that you and FG escape the flu this year. I have heard it's a pretty awful strain. I've had my shots and that's about all I can do.

So far we have escaped the various forms of pestilence. We don't see a lot of people, but I will need to be more careful as my surgery date nears. Lyme's Disease is mean. It just won't go away and leave you alone.

I hope you guys can avoid getting the flu!
Be good to know if you have something else, too. I'm glad they're being thorough. :)

I hope Jen is feeling better soon, it sounds like her flu was pretty awful.
Glad to hear you're able to find a primary care physician. Finding or changing a family doctor here is near impossible.

Stay well!

That flu is a bummer. I am glad you have a primary care person who knows that other things can be tested and identified. I had a good primary for a while but left the area. I read the report about me and he had checked a lot of things on me that were negative. It was good to know. The variants of flu's out there seem sometimes connected to the covid strain.

I certainly hope you all stay well, and that Jen gets better quickly. Glad you’ve found a clinic nearby.

Oh dear, sure hope you guys don't get the flu. I know there are so many things flying around this winter. Jim and I are still trying to get over our colds. Hope Jen feels much better soon. I hate the flu.

Poor Jen! That's awful. It sounds like the worst flu ever! I hope she recovers fast and I hope you and Far Guy don't catch it.
