Oh Deer

Elvis was barking in the back yard, sometimes he does that if the neighbors black lab Nova is outside.  Then I saw three deer run through the area between the fences...Sadie must have heard them or translated the barking. She joined Elvis in the back yard to give them the what for.

I was not fast enough to get a photo of the three deer that stood in the neighbors yard that is not fenced.  They seemed unaffected by the dogs barking.

We have been checking out some short You Tube clips...Sadie gets excited about deer and chickens ( she did eat a chicken once at the farm Sarah and Chris own)...ducks and birds do not entertain her and she is not real excited about squirrels.

I got a photo of Sadie standing watch!

Jen is still under the weather.  She is on a liquid diet.  So far no one else in the household is ill.
Knock on wood.

I am certain the groundhog will be scared back in his hole by his shadow and we will have more than six weeks of Winter.

Oh No poor Jen! I know that bug was fierce when it hit my neighbor and her little boy. Thankfully, they were over it in 24 hours so it could be a different bug entirely.

Hope this doesn't make you guys sick too!

Deer in town. Now that would be something. :)
A norther groundhog would always predict 6 more weeks of winter...if not 8 or 10--LOL! ;)

It is miserably cold here today, and though we don't have a groundhog to prognosticate on our behalf, I can assuredly say we're for more than 6 weeks of winter yet. More seasonal weather expected tomorrow, thankfully.

My daughter has deer wandering through her yard too. There is an ugly cedar tree that she has hated since she moved in, and they've managed to chew up the bottom two feet of it thus far. It wil be a good reason to get rid of it this summer.

Well, we’re might as well get prepared for more winter. When I get down about my weather all I have to do is check out what you’re dealing with and I feel much better.

Mom's dogs used to get very excited about the squirrels, but then Dad started putting peanuts on the front window for the squirrels. And now that the squirrels are there all the time, the dogs gave up! Lol.

But you better not be a rabbit in their yard!!!

Sadie is beautiful!

Sending good healing thoughts to Jen.

My dog ignores deer, but will bark at and chase every squirrel...

Sadie is such a mature, majestic dog now.

All the best to Jen as she battles the virus. Sadie and Little Elvis do a good job of protecting their humans.

Cloudy day for the groundhog here- but, this being Alberta, the groundhog is invariably wrong. Maybe not this time?
Hope you and Gene don't get that flu, and that Jen recovers quickly.

Tell Jen that she will probably lose weight on the liquid diet. I was on mine for quite awhile and there are still things I won't eat. I lost 22 lbs and I still have not gained any of it back but I feel great so that's what counts! I pray that Jen recovers soon.

Isn't it encouraging to know we've reached the mid-point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox? We've having a bit of sun and cloud mixed so who knows what a groundhog will do!

You know we will have more than six weeks more of winter! I don't see deer as often as I used to.

We see many deer here everyday too as they're scrounging for food in this cold and very snowy winter. Sorry to hear that Jen is still sick. Did she get Tami-Flu? I have heard that that has helped people when they have gotten the flu. Praying the rest of you don't get it! Take good care!

We might be getting a puppy, will know in a couple weeks. Husband wants to name her. He's thinking Sadie.

A Respiratory virus is going around here. I've had it for almost three weeks now. Constant coughing! I get sick almost every January it seems.

Hope your daughter is on the mend soon, and that the rest of you don’t get it. Sadie obviously takes her job seriously. Keeping those deer away is an important job.

I will write the same as someone else did, deer in town! I guess we have some show up on the edge of our development but that it because it is timber there that connects to the lake. Love the Sadie photo,
