Far Guy and I did errands on Saturday morning, garbage to the transfer station and a trip to town for special orders....a new/old car part and a lawn mower part. Town was busy and were so sorry we missed a visit by cousins Jack and Pat.
In the afternoon my baby brother called... so off we went to clean up some headstones...we got a number of them done...using plain water and a soft brush.
I managed to do a few photos for Find A Grave while he was finishing up.
On the way there something caught my eye...in one bend in the road...
The early blooming Yellow Lady Slippers.
Far Guy started supper for me and I made it home in time to eat with him.
Beautiful lady's slippers.
Those lady slippers were quite the find! I don't think I have seen them ever in the wild yet.
Beautiful flowers. I'm happy your got some graves cleaned up. I'm so proud to have you as a friend as someone who does the phtography and journaling of the sites for others to have a record of.
The Yellow Lady Slippers are pretty. Sounds like you had a good day. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. :)
Finding lady slippers makes my day and then I remember that I have a carved one on my wall! I appreciate the carved lady slipper I got from you.
YAY! Spring at it's finest!
Love your lady slipper photo! I haven’t seen any in person in decades but as a Minnesota-born gal I do have a soft spot in my heart for them. The Butler Wildflower Garden in MPLS had several varieties of lady slippers when I last visited it in the late 1980s.
Love the lady slippers! They are quite a treasure!
Busy day! The ladyslippers are so pretty. :)
Sadly, no cemetery visits this weekend. I do plan to go in August when I’m in the area visiting friends, but it’s not the same.
A man who has supper started by the time his woman gets home.... does my heart good to hear. *haha* My hubby wouldn't even dream of doing that. He'd just say "I had a sandwich while you were gone so don't worry about supper for me." At least he can feed himself anyway! :-D I love that Find-A-Grave site. Many members of my family are there and I'm always surprised about who took the photos. ~Andrea xoxo
The lady slippers are so beautiful! Good of you to care for the headstones.
Those lady slippers were a real find! Thank you for sharing them with me. And thank you for cleaning up those graves.
Yellow lady slippers!!! I found a pink one in the woods up at Sleeping Bear National Park this week, but I've never found a yellow one!
The yellow slippers must have been a protected area and yet go sun each day. I am glad you could go clean stones. Baby Brother was a big help.
Sounds like a fulfilling and successful day along with some gorgeous Yellow Lady Slippers!
Lady’s slippers always remind me of you. How nice that you can contribute to find a grave photos.
Sounds like a nice day, I wish I could visit cemeteries but can barely walk so not easy
We used to visit the grave sites of the family when we lived in Michigan. I have no Family in Iowa, and last time we were in Michigan, I hunted in Vain to find my parents graves! (I know they should be buried next to Grandpa Allen...) I would have liked to visit them just to see how the site was fairing. But that place had changed so much over he years. We didn't have enough time to visit the Genthers, but I never was fond of that side of the family anyway. (That's a joke.... kind of.) Love the Lady Slippers!
Wow, you have a good eye!! I've never seen Yellow Lady Slippers growing wild.
Sounds like you had a nice busy day and got a lot accomplished. Wow those lady slippers are spectacular!
Oh, wow: Lady Slippers! You have such a good eye for hidden gems like that. How wonderful that you got some photos uploaded for Find A Grave and cleaned up headstones. You have so much energy! Happy Memorial Day!
Finding the Lady Slippers was a reward for your good service.
What a lovely cemetery and gorgeous lady slippers!
Found my first yellow Lady Slippers on Saturday by accident while hiking in the woods. First one, then a couple more and then a whole bunch! What a find!
