Far Guy finished his carving.
What began like this...
Progressed...
It is a black walnut yarn bowl! It works to hold my yarn so it doesn't roll all over.
This is the wood on the back...I love the color variations in some of the black walnut.
In other wood news both levels of log stairs have been spring cleaned!
Yesterday I made it off of the stairs and around the corner headed for the living room. Pictures were taken down and cleaned...the wall washed and the floor scrubbed...section by section the living room will be my project this week.
Far Side
I am impressed with your thorough spring house cleaning. My house is suffering from lack of care but I am getting out to see the spring wild flowers.
ReplyDeleteTell Far Guy that I love the bowl. What a clever idea. Boy, when you spring clean you really spring clean. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by your cleaning mojo. I did scrub the plastic that is covering my dining room and kitchen area floors yesterday. I can't wait to see the end of that mess.
ReplyDeleteThe yarn bowl is just spectacular! They are handy aren't they? I've been using one lately myself. Araignee
Nice, that is an incredible looking staircase! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt may rain here today, so I many continue my indoor purging.
Oh, my, that bowl is out of this world!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe bowl is SO Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful bowl. And you continue to astound me with your never ending energy. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bowl for your yarn! That wood is amazing. I have a black walnut box holding extra flatware that my grandfather made for my mother about 80 years ago. He was a carpenter. That box is one of my treasurers, even though it's very plain and simple.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a great feeling when cleaning projects are completed, Far Guy did an awesome job with the bowl, walnut is such a rich wood, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and for your sweet comment.

ReplyDeleteI have a yarn bowl. It cannot be compared to the work of art that you have now. Far Guy outdid himself and that wood is beautiful. What a treasure for you.
ReplyDeleteYour cleaning exhausts me. :-). You are making well use of your time confined whereas I read or knit or color. Do you want to come to my house after we are released?
Blessings,
Betsy
Oh how beautiful!! The sight of all this wood makes my heart skip a beat! *swoon* Love, Andrea xoxo

DeleteAwesome bowl with grain shown off.
ReplyDeleteI gasped when I saw the bowl, then shook my head, I should've known. It is beautiful, walnut is a beautiful wood. We have a bookcase that is behind my computer that we made of walnut from trees we sawed from here.
ReplyDeleteMy house is mostly wood too. I fine the wood terribly hard to clean.
ReplyDeleteI put the finish on all the boards myself so they are easier to clean:)
DeleteWhat are you using to clean all the wood?
DeleteSimple Green :)
DeleteThat yarn bowl is stellar! It must have been a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn ball, the black walnut is simply stunning. Good work on all the cleaning - I wish I had half your ambition. :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful bowl!
ReplyDeleteI love the bowl! It's so smooth I bet you don't really need the thread hole, but it's a nice touch.
