Thank you cards.
And a box of napkins.
It is surprising that everything has withstood the test of time....including us...although we are a little worse for the wear.
On Friday December 19, 1969 a Groom's Dinner was hosted by Far Guy's parents at the Travelers Cafe in Park Rapids with our good friend and neighbor Arvilla cooking for the group. It was cold...it was below zero. The food must have been good...I cannot recall what we ate....neither can Far Guy...our best guess is chicken, steak or roast beef.

Pretty wedding napkins. I remember how exciting it was to choose invitations, napkins, etc.

Those napkins bring back such memories. I haven't seen them in ages but we all had them back in the day. I spent a fortune on Daughter's paper products for her wedding but napkins aren't a thing anymore. Now you have to have favor boxes and menus printed up and placed on the table for each guest.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 50 years! I'm glad your memories and mementos have been kept intact...except for the menu...and you two can agree it was anything, beef or chicken or whatever, and it will be true.

ReplyDeleteI have a box, somewhere, that has our wedding invitations, napkins, thank-you notes and guest book. I've been hunting for it all week, ever since you started your memory trip. I have a terrible feeling that "somebody" disposed of it in our cleaning last spring. Our napkins were very similar to yours. At least I know exactly where the photo album is. No use getting upset about it, right? Thank you for more wonderful memories.

Our napkins were very modern. The graphic was a bride and groom cartoon ala "Cathy" Remember her? And the napkins were baby blue and pink. I still have some, even after we used them again at our 25th wedding anniversary party.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we have the same wedding stuff as you have but I'll never see it again. It's tightly guarded by the Micro Manager.
ReplyDeleteI was not a traditional bride but I remember my mom and dad had similar napkins with their names and wedding bells. We had an outdoor wedding on the farm with apple pies made by myself and teacher friends, homemade cinnamon ice cream we churned ourselves with cream from the local milk co-op, and we must have served it on paper plates because I know we didn’t have enough dishes for a crowd!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have all those great memories and keepsakes. We keep those things in order to jog our memory when we get older otherwise we wouldn't remember anything! LOL!

ReplyDeleteWhen my husband and I used to sing at weddings, we both discovered one thing: no matter how much we agonized over any little mistakes we might have made in the rendition of our song, the beaming bride inevitably came by afterwards to gush over how lovely the music was. We fuss so much over every little detail, when the main thing the important parties remember is: yep, we got married! And they couldn't be happier--so why should we be fretting over the small stuff?!
ReplyDeleteMy wife's memory of our wedding napkins was that the ups guy left them on the porch and the dog ate them. My bride to be was panic but it all worked out. The company didn't charge her for the second rush order.
