Wistful Wednesday: 1998

In the late winter of 1998 Far Guy was deployed to Hawaii.  He had a good time with a former classmate/roomate from college.   I think they spent a fair amount of time watching bikini clad gals being beach bums and traveling all over the island.

I would like to go back and visit the big island. My parents took us there as kids and I returned the last time in 2010 to deposit my fathers ashes in a place he had always been happy.

Unfortunately I was in Hawaii only once and that was at the airport at midnight on my way to Okinawa, Japan. Would love to go there to actually visit the islands.

I've been there once, it was beautiful. I understand being wistful.

If you must be deployed that is the kind of assignment you would want. LOL. My niece and husband were stationed in Hawaii twice in his long military career and they loved living there. We visited them once while they were there.

Thanks for posting on my blog! Fun photo, too. It seems like lots of our friends are headed to Hawaii this month. It's very tempting on these gray, chilly days, that's for sure.

I bet it has changed a lot over the years in some ways, but is just as beautiful. :)
