Paige: Skittles and Sigourney

Miss Paige our youngest Granddaughter got a kitten in April of 2010 for her birthday.  She named the kitten Skittles.

Skittles had a good life as a favorite kitten.  One day this summer a guest staying at the house left a door open.  Skittles was not an outside cat.  She disappeared.  We thought perhaps she would return after a few days but those few days have turned into months and Skittles has not come home.  Paige looked everywhere for her.  They live in an area with many Eagles and Owls.  RIP Skittles.

Paige was very upset, especially with the guests that left the door open.  I cannot blame her.  I figured she would get another kitten…Paige has always said “I am a cat person.”

Well Sigourney is NOT a cat.

Sigourney is a pot bellied pig. She even squeals like a pig.

This pig is litter box trained and has her own room with her own cage indoors.  She ate some brussels sprouts when were were there.

I wonder how big Sigourney will get?

How cute can one little "piggy" get.

Oooohhhhh- you should follow Michaelena Uldrikson on facebook- she has many stories about her pot bellied pig. That pig has the family well trained!!! I think it depends on the breeding how big they get- if to look at her sire and dam (do you even say that for pigs?) you should have an idea how big she will get.

I'd have gotten another cat. Pot-bellied pigs can get to be quite large--huge in my book. But I hear they make excellent pets, so it should be interesting.

Well , I'm sorry the cat disappeared. As I've said many times these little creatures become very important in our lives.

So sad about Skittles, but Paige looks very happy with her piglet. I wonder how cuddly he will be in a few months though!

It is very sad when you lose an animal that you have loved for that many years. I'm surprised my cats didn't get out this summer when I had company as everyone was in and out all the time but they always closed the doors. My cats usually hide if I ever have company.
The little pig is so cute! When Amy, my daughter, was in high school I had to pick her up from play practice one night and I always took the back roads and the schools were out in the country. On our way home some pigs had gotten out from a neighbors so we tried catching them and Amy caught one little baby pig and we went home to call the neighbors. Amy fell in love with that pig and I can still picture her on the kitchen floor with that little piglet...it was love at first sight. She asked the neighbors if she could buy it but they refused....they didn't really "cotton" to us "city folk" and Amy was so disappointed she cried. It was sad as he was a cutie and we had a pig barn. We said she could buy another one but she said it wouldn't be the same as he was special and he had come into her life for a reason. Pigs are supposedly very smart...smarter than dogs but I have hard time swallowing that when I see them wallowing in the mud and smelling like they do. LOL!

I'm so sorry about the kitty. It adds to the hurt having to wonder what happened to a pet that disappears. We lost a Chocolate Lab that way. He was asleep on the front porch on a Sunday night and gone Monday morning. We searched for months but never found a trace. Anyhow, that is the cutest little pig I've ever seen. Looks like he loves Paige already. He is adorable.

I'm sorry about Skittles. My GD desperately wants a pig for a pet but I've been discouraging her as she already has a dog... in a small apartment.. and works full time.

Poor Skittles! But the pig is sweet... Hope she's as sweet when she is big!

How heartbreaking that must have been to lose her! Glad Sigourney is there to fill the gap. This should be interesting...

I could not be more jealous of your new grandpig. I always thought that when I retired I would get one, but I never did.
RIP Skittles.
Welcome Sigourney.
The photos are just lovely.
