Sixty Years Ago

October 07, 1950..that is the day that my parents got married.

Mom and Dads Wedding Day 1950

Mom did her own hair, perhaps her sisters helped her..and apparently that “old wives tale” about the groom seeing the bride before the wedding being bad luck was a bunch of baloney.

Mom and Dad at Careys Last summer my baby brother who lives in Oregon got a new camera..I asked him to take a photo of Mom and Dad for a pre anniversary photo..it was used in the Cousins Newsletter.

Mom and Dads formal wedding photo 1950This is their formal wedding photo that I used in the newspapers and in the Church Bulletin to announce an open house in their honor this weekend.

Luckily I did some of the preparations for this event last week. We hope that Trica will be able to attend..we will see..she wants to be there, she is their oldest grandchild..just one of twelve…some live far far away and some are on student trips abroad.  So it is not possible for everyone to attend. I am sure that they will all be there in spirit! :)

What a glorious wedding dress. That is a beautiful wedding photo. Your mother in her pre-anniversary photo reminds me so much of a woman I know named Carol Roeller. I expect it's a case of same ethnic background, etc. But I was startled for a moment.

60 years!

Btw, my blog address has changed. I'm now at www.prawnoffate.blogspot.com

Connie, please pass on my Happy Anniversary wishes to you parents, that is quite the accomplishment! They make a lovely couple.

I've read the previous two posts about Trica, and I hope that she is soon well enough to be there also. She sounds like she is in good hands, and they are doing what they can to figure out what's wrong with her. Let's just pray that it's soon.

Hugs to you my friend.

I am sure my parents celebrated their 60th too, but in Heaven, since they surely would have made it together. Congratulations you having yours right here! Sixty years together is amazing. And glad to hear that Trica might be attending. That's good news.

I love her wedding dress. I pray that this weekend will be a glorious celebration of their testimony of sixty years together. I am so sorry that you are being pulled in love between two different generations in one week. Isn't that the way life goes though - - - either we are having just normal, sometimes mundane, days and other times our plate is full to overflowing with family activities. I pray this weekend will be a happy, stress-free one for everyone. And if Tricia can't be there but will recover quickly and completely, that is more important - - - even though her absence will cause the sadness of missing her for a few more days.
