Shell Lake is one of my favorite places to go. I have photographed this lake in all it's seasons.
Of course I missed the best photo opp..I was talking instead of getting ready. As we rounded the corner, a fisherman was pulling a ten pound Northern PIke out of the lake...he threw it back in and smiled and waved. I wonder if it would have found it's way to his table if we hadn't come along just then? Fishing season for Northern Pike doesn't open until May 15.
My Uncle and Aunt's house overlooked this lake. My paternal grandfather lived in a tiny two room house across from this lake when his second wife died and he was told he had two weeks to move from her home. A suitable little house was built quickly for him on my Uncles property, the little house is long gone..what remains in this..
An Inukshuk. A pile of rocks..a stone landmark..that marks a hunting spot or a food cache, or a place of friendship and shelter. It probably means that Amy and Eddie have the coffee and homemade cookies ready for you if you stop by. One of these days I will have to stop to visit with them. When they purchased the place high atop the hill..I congratulated them on their beautiful sunset views and the tire swing in the tree.
There were some ducks crossing the road, I missed those too..but I did finally get some Canadian Geese in the sunset. It was a lovely evening in Minnesota. Going for a drive with my best friend and his dog..life is good:)
Beautiful shots of the lake and it's surroundings. It looks quite peaceful and tranquil there.
God bless and have a terrific Tuesday!!!
I love the lake photos. It is beautiful. Sounds like a lovely time with your best friend and dog. Give Chance a snack. He deserves it because he is such a good doggy.
The lake shot with the geese is a keeper. WOW. Great looking sunset.
The Blue Ridge Gal
Okay, I have to repeat what the others have said already: Wow. Just beautiful pictures, and even if you missed some, these are all incredible. I like the rocks, too. Your new header is also way cool. You do these really well!
I hope you snuggled up to your best friend as you drove along. That is a very inviting sunset for a little smooching with Far Guy. Gorgeous photo.
Love the photos, and the sunset caught the sky colors in the water. so pretty.
Have you taken any photography lessons or is it just a natural talent you have? Your photos are always beautiful.
Beautiful little outing and wonderful companionship!
What a deliciously fun-filled day.. And you've managed to capture the beauty and serenity too.
Lovely photos. I especially love the meaning of the rock tower.
I love the last picture......one of my projects this year is to build an Inukshuk.
An Inukshuk. I have never heard of an Inukshuk, but I like the word. (How do you say it?) And I like what it stands for.
I really like learning about your land and world. Thank you so much, Connie!
And I love the header of Chance. Sometimes I feel like I could reach right through space and pet him.
The photos are great, but I really love that last sentence you wrote. Nice.
Emma sends kisses for your best friends dog!
how I would love to take that little journey with you...
past the fisherman and the Inukshuk -- and saying goodnight to the Canadian Geese.
Those colors are incredible. However I find myself desiring a orange sherbet with huckleberries sprinkled in it!
