A Thousand Words: Fireman

I hope you remembered to change out those batteries in your smoke alarms.   If not..this guy might visit you.    He is a Daddy too in addition to being a Fireman..being a fireman is hot, filthy work..some times a little girl must just be content to just touch her Daddy's helmet.  Out here in the boonies, every time you do something stupid ..like starting your oven on fire ( I did that) someone must leave their home and time with their family to rescue you and your house.  Did I just hear someone say.. "But that is their job"   ..maybe in your area it is..out here they get paid $5.00 a call..or maybe it is up to $6.00  by now...which just helps cover expenses.   Fireman..you gotta love them..and  this one is one of the special ones..my nephew Josh:)

I have tremendous respect for firemen. I appreciate the job/risk/sacrifice they make. I needed their help just once with Mama and their tenderness, sympathy and consolation touched my heart forever. Thank you for the important reminder with batteries and commend Josh for me.

Five or six dollars for making a call?
Ridiculous!The service is priceless.

I have a healthy respect all fireman and law enforcement. That isn't any money for taking a call to risk their life. I know you are proud of your nephew. Have a good day.

Around here most the firemen are volunteer. These men risk everything putting out flames of destruction. Kudos to all firemen especially your nephew.

I always use the time change to replace my batteries. Have a great day and thanks for the reminder.

Thank goodness for fireman. Not only is it hot dirty work, it can be dangerous at times. I am glad there are people like your nephew willing to risk their life to save others. There is not enough pay or reward for all the sacrifices they make.

I also agree with the above comments. Firemen cannot be paid enough to cover the essential service they provide to all of us. Thanks for the reminder about the batteries, and thanks to your nephew for his service.

Those batteries save a lot of lives -- bitch all you want to! (And I empathize with your oven story -- Old Dog swears I have the smoke detector confused with the oven timer.)

And EMT's and Paramedics all those people most others never even think to think of twice. We, also, don't have a paid fire department.

We have a voluteer fire department too. I praise the people that dedicate their life to help others.

My hubby was a volunteer fireman for years, now the head of emergency management in our county.

His mother told him one time when he went into a fire, that she worried and did not want him to do that. He said, Mom, wouldn't you want someone to come into a fire and help you?

She never said another word against it.

Thank you, firemen!

Hooray for your nephew Josh, and all the wonderful time he donates to help others. I would consider it a donation when all he gets paid is $5 or $6. What a brave and selfless person!!!
