Far Guy was an awesome woodcarver all summer.
He sent me this photo when I was at the craft retreat back in September.
He painted all the beaks for me. The birds are all belly up on the table!
During the month of October I painted almost every day.
I found some leather cord to use for the hanger. They are simple painted Cardinals each one is a bit different.
I have a few left to hand deliver, all the far away mailings have been delivered.

What are the little birds for?
ReplyDeleteThe birds are amazing. It's clearly a labor of live, but my goodness, what a lot of work and effort. The recipients are blessed indeed.
ReplyDeleteI love those. Every winter when we see Cardinals in our back yard, my husband talks about his grandmother having a ceramic cardinal on a shelf near her wood stove.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! An awesome gift!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! WOW!

ReplyDeleteYou are both so talented. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteSandi, They are Christmas Ornaments
ReplyDeleteThe cardinals are beautiful - how special that the two of you do something like this each year and how special for people to have something that both of your hands have made. I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised and delighted to be chosen to receive an ornament. I had been reminiscing about my mother when the mail arrived and the moment I opened it, I felt like it was a sign from her (and you and your lovely husband). I know it has been a difficult year for you with your parents and I would like to think the cardinal is a special connection for us and them. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cool! I look forward to seeing what the carved ornament is every year.
ReplyDeleteThey are just beautiful! I always look forward to seeing what you two have created. Just beautiful! :)

ReplyDeleteThey are so beautiful and how lucky each person who receives one is. A gift from the two of you, created with the wonderful talents that the Lord has blessed you both with.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,

They are so great. It was a lot of detail work to get them carved and too to paint them was a lot of time involved. People will really like receiving them. I bought special see, big bucks, to see if I can lure one or two cardinals to the feeders. Too much development that took out too many trees so there just aren't as many in the area. I bought myself a new tube feeder just because. Christmas is coming for sure.
ReplyDeleteWOWeee!! The talent and workmanship shows. These cardinals are priceless!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! Maybe my favorite yet.
ReplyDeleteLovely!! And now my favorite (each year a new favorite comes along) :) So well done and very much appreciated! Thank you!
