Yarn experiments

I bought some Hobby Lobby yarns to try and see how I liked them.  Only two of theses skeins have been worked with...it is good to have a stash.

The center skein Chloe color Carnation was the cowl with big buttons that I made for Jen...she has not reported how she likes it..or not...but hey it is summer.

This was my own design.   I had a vision...and it is always fun to see how a variegated skein works out.  This yarn is a bit splitty and has a mind of its own...it is soft and has texture.

Onto the next skein ...Sweet Divinity  color Red Clay. This one just came off the blocking mats.

This one might be a candidate for a large button also.

It can be worn many different ways. Frontwards, backwards, tied in front...

The yarn is very soft to the touch and nice to work with. One skein made a cowl, to be a proper shawl it would take three skeins of this yarn.

It went into the cowl/shawl box...which may have to become a drawer upstairs as a few are empty after the big sort last winter.

I have daughters and granddaughters that wear cowls... I have a favorite one I wear in the winter it has many colors in it so I always match!  It is large enough that I can wear it as a scarf or wrap it around my neck twice on cold winter outings.

Do you wear cowls?

I'm drooling at the picture of the yarn. What lovely colors. I love cowls and have made two for use this winter. I can't stand it when the back of my neck gets cold yet don't like turtleneck tops.

I have never worn one, that I remember, but they are beautiful. I like the idea of a big button.

No, I don't, but your pretty cowls are making me think that maybe I do need one!💖

No, I wear scarves in the winter. But I would if I had someone who makes them as well as you do. I like that pretty variegated yarn cowl, though.

I don't wear cowls but I like the way they show off the various patterns and stitches you are using.

They are all gorgeous! I usually don't wear them myself because I live in Florida. It's rare to get weather cool enough for anything like that. Happy Saturday :)

I LOVE your cowls but have never worn one. I don't even know how to wear a scarf properly. If there ever was a plain jane, it's me. As usual, just caught up with your posts. Far Guy's flower carving is amazing and so is the painting. It looks so real! Oh, and the deer. The fawns that still have spots are so pretty.

Have never worn one. In fact had never seen one until you showed us these you have made. So pretty! :)

Yes, I love a cowl, also a nice infinity scarf. Your colors are beautiful. I am always eager to see the pattern the multicolors turn into.
I am drawn to yarns that are very varied in colors. But sometimes don't like how the work up.

I have a hooded cowl I really like when it is cold.

YOur cowls have both turned out great. I make lots of them but have given every one away. I never think to put one on myself. I do use a lot of Yarn Bee yarn from Hobby Lobby. I've like all that I've used.
Blessings,
Betsy

That last one would look perfect with one of the acorn buttons I just made. Send me your address and I will send you one:)

I have used Yarn Bee yarns several times and like them. Your cowls/scarves turned out lovely! I'm sure Jen will appreciate it this winter when the cold winds blow! I love cowls as scarves tend to fall off and I'm always fiddling with them. Maybe I don't make them long enough. During this time of isolation and Covid it is even more important to have a stash....of everything! LOL!

I love the lacy shawls the best, and it's good to hear that the yarn is soft so it will drape beautifully. I have one shawl made by my cousin. It isn't nearly big enough so it is really more like a scarf, and it isn't soft. I've worn it only a couple of times. It's pretty and it was very sweet of her to make it for me, so it hangs where I can enjoy looking at it.

Those are all beautiful! I have never worn a cowl but I think I would like one once I got the hang of wearing it. I do wear warm scarves in cold weather. I need to learn to crochet or knit simply because I love looking at all the yarns in the store!

I've never worn a cowl, though do wear a scarf in the winter. Perhaps it is something I need to consider. Love the colors of the one marked clay, very pretty!

Take care and stay well.

It is not often that I even wear a scarf around my neck here in Seattle. Except my Sounders soccer scarf, of course! :-)

I'm another one who has never worn a cowl. The cowl and wraps you make are very pretty.

This winter (we are heading into spring now) I have often suffered from the back of my neck feeling cold and a cowl sounds like the perfect answer. I don't know why I never thought of it before :)

They are such great looking works of art. I bet the stash keeps you thinking I can make more.

Nope, I've never worn one but would if I found one I liked....like the beautiful ones that you make. Winter will be coming before we know it...so it would be a good thing to think about wearing!
