A little sunshine

The sun came out, it warmed up and got humid.  Freezing our butts off or sweating them off.  How about something in between.

My other baby brother did part of the mowing on Sunday.  I finished up everything yesterday.  When I was on the back road mowing I noticed one of the Ash trees is showings it stuff.

It was prettier with a bright blue sky in the afternoon when I did not have my camera...I wandered that way last evening.

Far Guy had to go to Pulmonary Rehab by himself.  The house painters were working on the house and the furnace man was here... he cleaned and checked out our furnace...it is in fine shape and not nearly as dirty as he thought it would be...maybe because we are always cleaning something around here.  He checked it for leaks etc..and we are all good.

The house painters will be back today to finish up.   The house is getting two coats of stain.

It is looking pretty good.  We have been working on the pavers, Wet and Forget does a great job killing moss!   The pavers are still not perfect but everything takes time.

  1. I miss the Ash trees around here, most all of them are dead from the Ash Borer. Wet and Forget? Now I like the sound of that!

  2. Tom now likes to have me leave your posts up so he can read them, too. We have been filling our lives with doctors appointments. I admire your tenacity at cleaning.

  3. Good to know your furnace is ready and willing for another Minnesota winter. Our washer quit the other day (in the middle of washing Bob’s toys — we think she cast a spell on it) and Paul did this and that and it got going again. The dilemma is, he has no idea what he did! Nice of your brother to do some of the mowing for you. You have a lot of responsibility with all the hard physical work on your shoulders. Nice to have some help.

  4. Gosh, long time since I have seen an Ash tree. Our state was infested with Emerald Ash Borer. We had several tall, gorgeous trees that were withering away. One day we noticed a pickup truck casing the neighborhood. My husband went out to ask them what they were up to. It turns out it was a family operation who were preparing a bid to the city to take down the Ashes on the city's tree lawn. We asked how much they would quote to do ours and, after some deliberation, they decided that for cash, they could take down all four for the price of one while waiting for bids to be awarded. Since we had a young family with five children, we snapped this offer up quickly. Had to make sure the cut wood stayed in the county. Fortunately we had some friends with wood burners that welcomed it.

  6. Your wood siding is just so beautiful. I have serious envy. We have ugly white vinyl siding here in the woods and you can imagine how horrible it looks with all the tree sap and such. You can't keep it clean. There should be a law saying if you build a house under trees it HAS to have wood siding or at least dark vinyl. I would love yo replace it all but The Mister says no.....

  10. The ash trees in front of my previous home were the first in the neighborhood to change. I loved the golden light they produced in the morning.

  11. You are on the ball in getting ready for another winter. We are going to have the furnace guy out to check our furnace as soon as we return from Omaha. It's always good to know everything checks out okay.
Your house is beautiful. I always wanted a log home but I don't think that's going to happen. I'm also glad you had some help with the mowing. You're always so busy.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

Autumn had come too early here, lots of dark, rainy days already.

  15. Your home (new stain) looks good. That is great news about your furnace being good to go for another season. Mostly our leaves are drying up and falling off the trees here. I think of you both many times during the day. John has an MRI on his back tomorrow - hasn't been able to walk.
