June

June 1st seems like a good day to declare summer.  We have had two very warm days...very warm for me is 80 F.  I like 72 during the day and 66 at night.

We began the Christmas Ornament Woodcarving design process.  We have two designs...perhaps two years worth.  I like them both.  I can carve one in about a half an hour.  Rough cutting of the blanks has begun.  We brought out a table and the band saw to the overhang of Far Guy's garage, he set up a fan to blow sawdust away and wears a mask when cutting.

I went to Bingo with my Dad and my Baby Brother...I bingoed once ($15) and then my Dad bingoed on the blackout...three people bingoed so he had to share and only got a third($334)of the pot ($1,000) and then shared with my baby brother and me...so we each got $110 so we can go to bingo again for a few weeks. ( We play one wins we all win)

I bought flowers...haven't planted them yet.

Picked up a woodscrew someplace so had to get a tire repaired.  New cars tell you when you have a low tire...it didn't look low...but it was.

Our bird traffic has slowed down...the Indigo Buntings are still here but I believe the Orioles are gone as is the Scarlet Tanager.

The Scarlet Tanager used my glass flower for a resting spot and drank water from the cup.

Neat! I saw a scarlet tanager just last week when I stopped out by the Mississippi River. It was startling to see those colors so vibrant! Bluebirds are nesting in a hole in my old Chokecherry tree and the Orioles are nesting near by as well as a Purple Finch couple!
I have a good variety of pretty birds around this year.

The scarlet tanager is so pretty. You and Far Guy have been busy! My dad plays Bingo, but he doesn't share his winnings! Hehe... Have a good weekend!

I'm the same as you with temperatures.

Congratulations on the bingo wins.

Carving started! I always look forward to seeing you two's creations.
I had no idea there was so much money involved with bingo. Goodness!
I saw 91 on my phone here on Wednesday and 89 on Tuesday. Could have even gotten hotter than that, I suppose. Too hot for the end of May.
That is one gorgeous little bird!

That bird is outstanding! We have so few brilliantly colored birds here.

Is your baby brother similar in age to mine? In his mid 50's? LOL...we still call mine the baby brother, he even leaves messages on my voice mail saying..."Hey Dawn, this is your baby brother calling..."

I've never seen a scarlet tanger, that is such a beautiful bird!!!

Congratulations on the bingo wins! Hopefully, temperatures will reach the 70s this coming week as predicted. Of course, more afternoon thunder storms are predicted, too. Hopefully, FG's fan will keep the mosquitoes away, too. Enjoy your carving time.

Congratulations to your Dad for his win! How nice that you all share. I am always excited when I hear the Christmas carving has begun. Looks like nice weather there - I'm with you on the temps and like the 70s but once summer hits it is much hotter here. Enjoy your weekend!

Congrats on the win! When a friend and I used to play we always split as well.

So many things about this post tell me that you are happier and on the mend. I'm happy for you and FG.

The warm does make things better. Now we use the word hot and I have to come into the house and sit down. I took a nap this afternoon and went out to finish planting things. I should have enough tomatoes for everyone in the neighborhood. I wanted to replace a steak tomato and all I could find was six of them. I am ahead five on that replacement planting.

Hard to believe it is June. I always look forward to your Christmas ornament carvings. The photo of the scarlet tanager enjoying your yard art is gorgeous. We have been in the high 90's with no rain for weeks. Having to water every day. Praying for you both to have a good evening.

The last picture is a great one! And you were obviously at the right spot at the right time. So often I find a bird comes by, stays for a drink and leaves. How many do I miss in a day!
How nice that you and your dad also won at Bingo. And how nice that one wins you all win. That's a good policy.

Congratulations on winning at BINGO! I think it's great that you all share when anyone wins. Great teamwork!
Blessings,

Christmas ornament carvings - always so curious! The picture of the tanager and your flower is beautiful! I believe the Orioles have now left here also but saw an indigo bunting at the feeder Monday. And a Robin in the yard too!
