Tied Record

The snow record in our yard has been tied.  Will we set a new record? …have to wait and see.

24 inches

I fed the birds and shoveled snow.  We go to the Tranfer Station with our garbage every three weeks.  Yesterday was the day.  The roads were slippery.

Birds

After I filled the thistle feeders a whole swarm of Pine Siskens came into the yard…they were chirping happily.

Rabbit

This spot was right ouside our door.  It seems we have a watch rabbit that sat here long enough to melt snow.

The snow is light and fluffy for the most part, it will blow around today as we have a blizzard warning.

Yesterday we entertained ourselves for a while watching unique snow removal tools that were used on roofs…ropes, wires and Minnesnowta Roof Razor.  Fun videos to watch.  Snow on top of roofs is beginning to be concerning for many home owners, in town it costs $385 to have your roof cleared.  There was an ad up that said $5 a square foot, boy did he get some flack. We have steel roofs and sooner or later it will slide right off.

Whew, that’s exciting. I think there is plenty of time to break the record — if there is no February Thaw in between.

Good grief- make it stop! At least in Northern Ohio it melts between storms, leaving us with a muddy slush mess. Today 50 mph winds are in the forecast. Hands up if you can't wait until Spring!

Oooff that's far too much snow. I think we'll look back on this winter as being the one that went on forever. Stay safe!

I watched a video of the snow being removed from the buildings in Yellowstone Park. Interesting to watch. Sometimes the workers even have to shovel snow out of the lodge itself.

Well, I have saved myself a TON of ca$h because I have raked my roof three times already! It's pretty to look at, but heavy to shovel. Maybe your measurement will rise today just from all the blowing going on.

Terry and I have been sick now going on forever...but finally we are feeling somewhat better (cold and flu) and the snow is melting here, although, still very cold.

Thankful you have the steel roof. Cute about the "watch" rabbit! So many of my blog friends are having terrible weather today. Stay safe.

One advantage to living in this windy town--not a lot of buildup on the roofs--LOL! ;)

A good reason for a steal roof! Watching snow removal as entertainment is actually quite funny.

Somehow I think the snow record will be broken. Just seems like this year is a strange one. Our roofs (rooves??) are not built to hold heavy snow so if it accumulates my sons will have to go up with shovels and do what they have to do to lighten the load.

I remember Dad making a long rake for removing snow from our roof. HEre in Iowa, we dod not get the snow like in MIchigan. But this year has been bad. Today it is windy and bone chilling cold. Glad I'm not in Minnesota. That windchill kills!

So much snow

The way this winter has gone I am betting you will break the snow stick record! You guys are smart to have a steel roof - it can't be fun shoveling roofs!

Phew, not a record you want to break! We did shovel some of our roof. Often when we get snow, or a stretch of freezing weather, we get what are called arctic outflow winds, which blow down the valley from the colder interior of the province. We can get quite big drifts on the lea side of the roof, so shovelled some off while it was still easy and was light and fluffy. The worry being that we can all of a sudden get a lot of rain, so don't want three feet of soaking wet snow on the roof. That didn't happen, and if the warmer winds from the other direction come as predicted it will be a nice, possibly quick, disappearance of our snow.

I cleared the roof off before the warm weather and got at least half of it. Yesterday two huge sections let go and then it rained like heck before snowing.
I can't find a place to measure the snow! I will post some photos though of my girlfriend this morning as she was playing in the blowing snow. It was nearly up to her hips in one place!

I cannot imagine 24 inches of snow!

We had to have our roof shoveled a few years ago and may have to do it again if it keeps this up. Snow is forecast for several days this week. Ugh!

I think that record will be broken. And it's not one that's a whole lotta fun to break. :-)

I am very low on bird food. We are going into town tomorrow for dr appts and will pick up more. There's a quite a bit of winter left so I'm guessing your record will be broken!
