We stopped by the antique shop in town one day…we didn’t have too much time to explore but as we walked quickly through I happened to spy a couple of things I
needed wanted should not have bought for $2.
It just added to my project/someday list.
Who can resist an old carving that just needs a little help…and the jingling bells were driving Far Guy nuts just in the store. (Yes it might be me and the bells that drive him over the edge.)
The Santa had a strange look.
Before: Santa stares…kinda spooky. He needed to be rescued.
After…I sanded him a bit, thinned down some brown paint and brushed some on and took most of it off, re painted his wonky eyes…put some snow on his hat and cuffs and a little glitter glue on his tree…and then I sealed it.
He looks good on the wreath outside the door. Maybe I will add some lights and maybe not.
The bells ended up outside also…that was the extent of my Christmas decorating this week.
I love both items. The Santa looks great now!
You made the Santa perfect! You can't stay away from crafty stuff, it seems. I'm glad. :-)
Yes, Santa looks much better! Your talent amazes me.
You are a true artist with great talent. It really is a gift you have. I keep saying when I get to heaven, I will be able to create that way but then I won't want to because we will be too busy worshiping!
My decorations this year have been down-scaled to the point of almost non-existent. With the asthma, I am not getting into paper dust or even dust from the tree in storage. I cannot have a live tree so a few things are set around here and there. I am saving what energy I have to enjoy doing the things I love most. We get to celebrate at our daughter's house so it all works out well this year. Hoping for less allergy triggers next year after being on allergy shots a year by then.
Santa looks great now! Neat idea to use your skills to refurbish- Yes, is amazing you can do that!
Your revised Santa is a winner.
Great finds for $2 - the bells alone were worth that. I have bells on my door year round. No one can sneak in without me knowing it. 😉
You are amazing..a true artist!!
Santa seems much happier thanks to your talent and help!! Love that you can do that.
You improved Santa greatly. I bet FarGuy is glad the bells are outside--LOL! ;)
Santa looks much better. Love the bells, I have some like that that belonged to my mom. Hugs, lj
The Santa as he was made me laugh with his stunned look. You sure improved him and he looks great on the wreath.
You could see what to do to make this a better looking Santa. Others could see something wrong but not how to correct it.
Wow ...great job rejuvenating that Santa. You are amazing!
Santa looks much better!
Santa's facelift is a big improvement!
Just the right touches. His face looks much more three dimensional now. And the eyes are a big improvement. I'd say you successfully got that one off your "someday list" pronto.
I love the Santa and sleigh bells.
Your 'needed/wanted/should not have bought for $2' line made me laugh! That is me all over :-) The look on the Santa's face was 'shocked' , you have improved him tenfold with all your little touches. We have a string of bells something like yours, not sure why, one of those 'but it's only 50 cents' buys of mine, and they are tied around the front door knob. Don't mind at all, them jangling to let me know someone is coming in there.
Your interpretation is such a better one. I couldn't tell that the original was wooden but your carving turned it into a much better thing. I have a set of bells like that but left them in a box. Not very many doors in the house but I kept them on a door at the old place.
You did good and what an improvement on both! For $2? Well worth it!
