Flowers, carvings and kids

Sometimes flowers are best left to where they grow and bloom.  These Daylilies are growing over at my brothers along the edge of the road and they have a perfect tree backdrop.

Our days have been cool and our nightime temperatures are fall like….really unusual for August.  Somtimes it is too cool to have the windows open!

I finished two bunches of woodcarved Christmas ornaments that are headed to Oregon and New Jersey later this week. The count is 60 ready to paint, 12 painted, and a few more to carve.

Careys Grands

Four of my baby brothers grandchildren that have been visiting. We met three of these children for the first time, the oldest we had met before when he made his first trip to Minnesota a few years ago.  They sure do liven things up.  They thought my request to line up on a pile of dirt was great fun! (They were all supposed to be saying cheeese!)

The oldest caught his first fish today, but the motion of the boat put him to sleep so he missed it.  Up until the fish today, they have just caught weeds….but they were thrilled with that too!

Wouldnt it be fun if we adults could have simple fun like those little ones did?

Adorable little ones! It doesn't take much to keep these kids happy, it seems. :-)

That would be a busy handful to keep around. They are a cute bunch. Our oldest grandson is like his dad and falls asleep riding cars, buses and boats.

What fun to be around little ones and piles of dirt. :)

It's cool here also! Feels like late September. So cool, wet, and damp Terry is afraid to cut the hay. It needs cutting, but it's too wet for it too dry.

Cute kids! A couple look like they might have been saying cheese. Tough luck for the sleeping fisherman, but fresh air can be good for inducing naps.

Daylilies are my all-time favorite, and I think it must be their natural habitat to be found along country roadsides. At least that was the way it was where I grew up in New York. Loved taking summer drives and seeing them line the roadsides. The "sociable" flowers: they spread so naturally and looked so welcoming in clusters.

I love day lilies...another flower from my childhood. Children tend to have fun regardless.....we need to remind ourselves how to enjoy life as children do....we lose that ability as we grow up and then hopefully relearn it in our older years.
