Chance: The Field Report

Hiya!  It’s me again with a field report.  We went for a ride on Tuesday afternoon just before nap time.  Gotta keep these old farts on a schedule.  Ride, nap and supper.

The snow is icy and hard in the places where there is snow, we have ice too…there is two inches of snow at the snow stick.  It rained last night (Wednesday) and our walk was all icy.

A plowed field

One of the area fields…I think this one had beans in it last summer…or potatoes.  It was beans…Far Side found a photo taken in almost the same spot last August.  She must be a creature of habit too.

The corn field

This is the neighbors corn field.  Those dots are Wild Turkeys.

44 turkeys

In the old grain field across the road from us were 44 Wild Turkeys.   I hear them gobble gobbling through our woods…they make quite a racket…and I bark at them.

Turkeys in flight

I might have rolled down my window and barked at them…then again Far Guy slowed down so Far Side could get a photo…all I know is something spooked them and made them fly back into our woods.   Might have been me…who really knows for sure?

  1. Chance, I am happy you keep Far Side and Far Guy in line. You never know what they might do if their routine is changed. Thanks for being such a help to them. Glad you enjoyed the ride.

  14. Button gets us up in the morning, too early. Barney wants us to leave the breakfast table before we are through eating, he gets a set of milk bones and then Barney whines through dinner if he thinks he can freeload something. Barney always barks and complains as he doesn't want his mom to go up the stairs at night, its a abandonment thing. He has given up night walks as it has become too scary for him. All in all he had less requests than the little poodle. I am glad you got the field checked out. I just wish it was closer to spring.

  17. It's really nice that Chance lets you come along on these field trips, Connie. Seems like you all have fun times. Thanks for your recent visit to our blog and comment on all the snow we received in NH this week. We stayed indoors and watched it all day and no worries about shoveling walks or cars. We are really enjoying apt life!
