I had really good intentions… about buying stuff I don’t need = “more stuff.”
Then we found a whole town of garage sales. Uffda…I was thinking about what I could get rid of or at least move into the garage.
Could I pass up two boxes of Shiny Brites in their boxes??
Blue..they were all blue…oh I so love the blue color. I could have resisted them if they had been green..but they were blue. And at 50 cents a box..I could not resist. This has been a really good summer for finding Shiny Brites..I have found four boxes now…plus the box that Chance bought!
A few weeks ago I bought the bottom of a Depression Glass butter dish for 50 cents. Yesterday I found the top for 3 dollars..it must have been meant to be??
Pretty isn’t it? So I will dust this pretty butter dish for a few years..and then sell it. I am certain to get more than my original investment. Maybe I can even double my money!
Far Guy bought a couple of things too..oh and I bought some more old photos..they are small and lay flat and hardly take up any space at all.
Soon it will be winter and there won’t be any more garage sales..by then maybe my good intentions will resurface:)
Isn't it funny how these little treasures can bring such pleasure. Enjoy until you tire of them and then let someone else enjoy them
I really like that butter dish. And you can never have too many Shiny Brites, can you??? :-)
If it brings you pleasure then it isn't just stuff.
I have been really good this summer too. I don't know if I can make it through next weekend, there is a craft sale in the town 20 miles north of us. Uh-o. Good deal on the shiny brights. You purchased usable stuff... justify it that way!
I knew Chance is a wonder dog, but didn't know he buys you Shiny Brites as well! I love the butter dish, too. Too bad I gave away all my mother-in-law's depression glass, I'd send it to you and you could dust it!
I'm impressed that you found the top to the butter dish! :)
Well darlin'...it would be a cryin' sin and a half for you to pass up a great box of Shiny Brites!!!
My Granny Walden had a butter dish just like that. She'd sit me in the middle of her old kitchen floor with the butter churn then make the most amazin' skillet cinnamon toast ever!!!
God bless and enjoy your newest treasures!
Have a marvelous week! :o)
Oh, I love the butter dish, and doesn't it just make your day when you find the two parts at different sales.
I love going to garage sales. Maybe it's just as well that we work weekends in the summer, as now we can only hit a few at the beginning of the season, and the occasional Saturday that we take off work. Before we became full time market vendors, I was out there most Saturdays. After accumulating too much stuff, I did eventually learn to just buy something that I REALLY needed and had a good use for.
Although now Craigslist and the thrift stores when they have a sale can fill my 'need' quite nicely:)
The Shiny Brites are so pretty. I have been resisting the urge to start collecting them. It's not easy. And you're right about those antique pictures. They take up hardly any room at all! :) Do you display any of yours? And how?
Love the butter dish too. Now that was meant to be. Just think if you wouldn't have gotten the bottom half, how you'd be kicking yourself when you came across the top!
At 50 cents a box there must be some loose change laying around for that price. I don't think there is a line to draw to stop the Shiny Brites. Your one tree needs to be completely filled and then maybe you can get another tree to stand beside the big tree. Create a forest of trees with shiny brites. You had great garage sales this year. I stayed away from them this year. Chance probably can buy as many boxes of brites that he wants without getting yelled at for it.
Life is too short for good intentions all the time.
I would say, use the butter dish instead of dusting it.
Good buy on the Shiny Brites.
If you enjoy your purchases, then it's not "stuff": it's a treasure.
I always look for Shiny Brites for you when we are out and about! That blue color is gorgeous!
Love the butter dish, too. Just think how you would have felt had you not bought the first piece when you discovered the other half!!!
I like the way you rationalize your purchases. We can sometimes let our mind get out of control. But what's wrong with a few more good ornaments?
Oh, the shiny brites! How could you resist?!
Now the butter dish...I'd be using that!
Yes, the garage sales will end soon...along with your guilt. ;)
We found a little store like that yesterday. And there will be a neighborhood yard sale in the same area next month that we are going to go to.
I agree. Must have been meant to be. Lucky you!
Have a wonderful week! ♥
I like the Shiny Brites, too. I am thinking my aunt had a white artificial Christmas tree one year - - - and had just blue lights and blue ornaments on it. It was beautiful but the men didn't appreciate that it wasn't more traditional. One of my friends is a Mary Kay dealer and her white tree is decorated with many different styles of pink ornaments with clear lights. It is very pretty.
considering the price of labor .... and all that dusting, you'll probably lose money. snort on the butter dish
